Amazon Fire TV

Firestarter is easy peasy.
There is a Firestarter button on ADBFire, just press it.
This will end up in your APPS and you can set the Home key to do what you want with a single click or double click.
I've got it so one click of the Home button takes me to the Firestarter Apps where I can choose what I want to run or a double click takes me straight to Kodi.
It is really simple to do.

Ok, got Firestarter installed, it looks like it's like another OS to run the same apps?

And were do you go to assign buttons to the Home key for example?

A quick question, I have a fire stick and I want to use the mirroring option to show my PC screen ony TV using the Amazon stick.

I have no option to extend the desktop or add a wireless screen within windows 8.1.

Does anyone know exactly what's needed to use mirroring or how to get the "add wireless screen" option to appear in the charm/devices window?

Setup a network share on your PC. Put movies in that folder.
Add the network share to Kodi as a library folder, tell it that it contains movies.
Play movies.

There's no need to copy anything to the FireTV, you stream content over your network by pointing it at network share.

So somehow i got this working yesteday.

Installed Kodi on my pc, added season 1 of a show to the library and was able to watch that in the lounge over the fire stick.

Then i added season 2, and it couldn't connect for a while, untill suddenly it worked again.

But this morning all i get it the "can't connect to server message" and i can't see on files via the firestick in the lounge, but i can see them in kodi on the pc. Really getting on my nerves now this can't connect business.

I've restarted pc, restarted fire stick, the Abd fire app on my pc can connect to the firestick without problems, so not sure why Kodi can't anymore ??

What exactly are you trying to do? If the files are on your PC you should have added them to the library via the stick. Sounds like you are trying to share via DLNA. If you want to use a shared library you should set up the mysql library on the machine hosting the files. Sounds to me though like you should just be pointing the stick at the files on your PC.

Uninstall Kodi from you PC. It's just confusing you.

Create a folder share on your PC called TV. On the Fire Stick, within Kodi add a new library under videos and enter the share details using SMB, so the path will be smb://<ip of PC>/TV. Tell Kodi that this folder contains TV Shows, and leave it to scan. Job done.

Just bought one of these today, getting delivered Monday. I loved XBMC but the small PC I had to run it was rubbish, so having something like this to run Kodi seems perfect, as well as having the ability to move it between rooms in the house if I need to. Now I can spend the weekend sorting my media library out and testing Kodi on my PC to get it all working as it should.

I've got Arctic Zephyr on mine and love it. I've cut it right down to just a Movies menu with Recently Added as a sub menu, TV Shows with Recently Added under that to, and Settings that has Quit as a sub menu. Then got the recently added widgets for each of them.

That's the one i've settled on!

Although i've not edited it much.

I have Front Row on 5 devices.
My favourite bit is where I can click my middle button and it shows me the time and what time the film/TV show will finish which I find useful.

my new fire tv died today - won't power on at all - plug it in and there are no lights coming on at the front of it and the tv doesn't detect any hdmi device in that port. new one being sent out by amazon.

really simple to install firestarter & kodi on it - https://goo.gl/kTpZau

Considering what Genesis is used for (streaming films and TV shows) this isn't something you can discuss here. Plenty of other places you can go for that.
