Amazon Fire TV

Struggling to find out why I bought this firestick. Why can't I just have a device that has the 4 main catch up services and a whole bunch of extras on top. There's no ITV hub or All 4 and the device is painfully slow to do anything.

My old WDTV Live was faster and that's years old.

I realise it does not help you but at least the new 4k version now does have all the main catch up services.

It is notable though that the all 4 app does state it is coming for the stick in 1st qtr 2016 and I suspect the ITV hub will too.

My father in law wanted this over the Christmas break but it was a nightmare to get hold of! Seems to be back in stock in most places, but I think I'll wait for it to go down to £25 again.

Ch4 finally made All 4 available then

Seen as I'm at work and just found this out, does anyone know if it works on older FireTV boxes? I'm confused by this:

Today the service expands to yet another device, with All 4 launching on Amazon's newest Fire TV and support for the older version and Fire TV Stick also announced as "coming soon."
I got my FTV last Christmas, does that mean it won't work?

Not yet, 1st Quarter 2016 Old Ftv and Ftv Stick.

Just Bought the 4K version since it was at a discounted price at £63.99 but the hdmi cable they recommend for it has a delay of 1-2 months which is a joke in my opinion but got a better one for cheaper so there loss is my gain :D

Yeah, I tried to find it last night. How utterly pants. My FTV is hardly old and still gets software updates, I'm sure it must run software fairly similar to the new 4k version...

This goes the other way too.

I recently bought an HD homerun (freeview via Ethernet basically) and the app (that you have to pay for despite the box costing £100) works on the old fire tv but not on the new one.

infuriating but not as much as the fact that it works brilliantly on windows , only in SD on an LG smart TV, only in SD on amazon fire tv old, not at all on amazon fire tv new and in glorious HD on Nvidia shield TV but with no sound .....

I do love my streaming setup but sometimes the headaches this stuff causes.

I'm wanting to add a BTSport shortcut to my firetv home page, just wondering if anyone has a guide to do this if it is at all possible.

Ignore - just cauhgt up with the thread and installed firestarter.

Getting there, not really invesdted any time with the Amazon box lately, so was just utilising Plex and then loading kodi as external player. Finally got PlexBmC installed and working, so it can see the server. However I just want a TV Shows, Movies and Films to Watch shortcut on the homescreen in Kodi, is there any easy way to do this where when you click on one of those it just takes you to the file list on the Plex server?

It really shouldnt be. its not as slick as a fireTV but it shouldn't be painfully slow.

I factory reset it again and followed a different guide for Kodi and it seems better.

My new issue seems to be when I turn the TV on it always turns on to the FireStick (HDMI2) instead of my normal TV (Sky box on HDMI1)

I think it might be because the Firestick is plugged in via USB and when TV is turned on it turns on the Firestick.

yeah could be. You could power it from mains and leave it on - it'll go in to standby anyway when it's not in use.

I'd love to however this flat I bought is ridiculous. In both the lounge and the master bedroom there are only 2 single plug sockets per room. Both in very difficult places compared to how our furniture is arranged. I've already got the lounge kit running on an 8 way and 3 plug splitter from the source which is pretty crazy. The bedroom is not much better, a 4 way with the TV, Sky box, phone charger and the FireStick power source however I need a longer cable as when it is plugged in to the plug source it's stretched as much as it can go just to get it to fit.

I guess in the 60s when this flat was built they only needed power for lighting hahaha
