Yep after a week of the new ui I can definitely confirm it's more pants than a Victorias Secret's manufacturing plant
No so you either
1) Delete the account and carry on
2) Take it back
3) Spend spend spend
Just picked up two of these, should I be installing Kodi?
I just bought a Roku 3 with some vouchers from tesco cost me £30
I CBA with Kodiand configuring stuff anymore I just want a thing that works.
Lack of DTS was niggling me on the Fire TV
So now I have one box for Plex,Now TV, netflix and Prime and google Video along with Iplayer etc...
I collect it this afternoon and will report back with my comparison...
Shame the Roku 4 hasn't made it to the UK still after a year!
Shame the Roku 4 hasn't made it to the UK still after a year!
Please do let us know what you think of the Roku 3 vs the Amazon Fire... Guess lack of 4K is one issue straight away though?
Chnged the audio setting on the Roku to DD/DTS over HDMI
Initial testing is not looking good.
For example :
I stream Jessica Jones on the Fire TV my amp changes to Dolby Digital
I stream Jessica Jones on the Roku my amp the amp switches to Stereo
I stream The Grand Tour on the Fire TV and fast forward to the middle of the show with no loss of quality Audio dolby Digital
I stream The Grand Tour on the Roku 3 and fast forward to the middle of the show with huge loss of quality. And it takes ages to change to full quality again. I have 76mb internet) Audio Stereo
Plex on the Roku streaming local MKV is working well with DTS
So now
I have a roku that wont stream Netflix or Amazon in DD but can do DTS for plex
And I have an amazon Fire that will stream Netflix or Amazon in DD but cannot do DTS for plex
So far I'm not impressed with the Roku 3...The IQ in Now TV is better on the Apple TV
If you're suggesting Amazon Prime is pumping out stereo sound on the Roku this rings a bell, and was one reason I went with the Fire TV box...
EDIT:
I now Have Dolby Digital + from Netflix and Prime from the Roku
Dolby Digital from Prime too? So you're not compromising from the Amazon Fire then other than 4K?
And what about Plex? Surely that's OK?
Yeah I'm getting Dolby Digital from Prime, Netflix and DTS from Plex
So not compromising anything...If you don't have a 4K TV then its an all in one solution.
As for the quality...I was downloading a file from Steam and forgot all about it...So might have been eating up my bandwidth.
I've got a Roku 3 in the garage... Nice little unit! If it offers all the sound options of the Fire (even for Prime) that's great!
