Amazon Fire TV

Has anyone got the latest Netflix update that gives a short preview trailer of every TV/movie show as you browse the UI.

I liked it at first but now hate it, as it distracts me from reading the text. I have it on my xbox one, but not on my fire TV box yet luckily.

Shame we cant seem to turn it off!

Had that earlier on Netflix, watched the new Designated Survivor episode then a trailer for some stand-up comedian that i have no interest in started playing.

Not sure thats what I'm talking about, the latest Netflix UI has preview trailers for everything that play automatically when you hover over the title of a tv show or movie without even clicking anything.

I think they will be giving an option in the next update as it seems a lot have complained about it.

Yeah sorry I was talking about the Netflix app.

My gen 1 fire tv box still has an older firmware, don't think Amazon have pushed the latest update to this box yet like the gen 2 4k box has.

Had the UI update this evening and not liking it so far, I thought the old one was simpler to navigate. I don't have autoplaying trailers in Netflix from highlighting things but i did have them on the 'Learn More' part of the main FireTV UI which were annoying, turned them off in the settings though.

If it has optical out and no micro sd card slot it's a gen 1 otherwise it's a gen 2. 24p isn't an android issue as that was solved ages ago, it's a lazy arse Amazon dev issue.

Fire TV Gen 1 can not do 4K or H.265. Fire TV Gen 2 is limited by HDMI 1.4 so will only ever be 3840 × 2160 30Hz max. SPMC plays 3840 × 2160 24/25/30 fine with obvious limitations on bandwidth if media is supplied over a network (and high bit rate even from attached USB media). Gen 2s are fine with H.265 but will never do HDR because of, again, the limitation of only having HDMI 1.4.

NO the Gen 2 Fire TV HDMI port is HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2

The reason it cannot do HDR is because it is not HDMI 2.0a but that could possibly be updated at a later date with a firmware revision.

Nope it's 1.4, same as the stick gen 2 and quietly admitted by Amazon techs and confirmed by Kodi and SPMC devs, it's why the gen 2 is limited to 2160p 30Hz.

Whoever designs the new ui on the new fire tv Interface, needs to be shot. I never get why these people get paid to make poor decisions. Why not just fill it with adverts and be done. Advertising is my most hated part of life. Too much too often. It ruins regular live TV period (except BBC)

I'm actually looking for another solution tbh . I hate the gui and as family are searching through xmas films mixing paid content with free is irritating

It's awful!

you scroll down the list on the main page looking for the prime sections because they are mixed in with paid content. You search for something and you dont know if the results are prime or paid until you select them. so annoying when you dont have that problem with netflix, nowtv etc.

:( Not looking forward to the gui update whenever I get it then!

I thought it looked like a bad rip of Netflix (which gui I hate by the way) :(

It's terrible, pretty much everything now requires at least another click, or two or three. The mixing of Prime and non Prime is getting on my nerves too. I want to just easily browse not examine everything to see if i need to pay.

Do the Fire TV sticks come with a dummy account on them? I got a FireTV Stick for the mother in law, got it out of the box (it was a new, not reconditioned), all seals intact to configure it up and it's already configured for someone's Amazon Prime account?....
