Amazon Prime - Dont have it then you can wait.

I tried to buy a TV off Amazon on two separate occasions. Both times it "went missing", i.e. was stolen by the courier. They sorted those messes out promptly. Made me wonder if things like that were why Amazon Logistics started.
 
Prime delivery seems to have taken a turn for the worse recently for me. Now if you order later on a Friday or Saturday the earliest it'll get to my house is Monday, but if I select a local pickup point then I can still get it delivered on a Saturday/Sunday.

It used to be the case that I could get home deliveries on Saturday/Sunday/Bank hols and if I select my other halfs address which is about 15 miles further from the massive local Amazon distribution center I still get the option. Bit of a pain.
 
Same. We ordered something on Thursday and it's only arriving on Monday. It's a common item too, so it's in the warehouse. Amazon are slacking lately.

Amazon Prime was supposed to get you "special treatment". But the more Prime subscribers there are, the less special you are. Amazon wants everyone to be a Prime subscriber, in which case nobody gets special treatment.

If this thread is anything to go by, Amazon have been very successful in getting people to buy Prime. Surprisingly successful, imho. I wouldn't be surprised if they simply can't achieve next-day service due to the demand from millions of Prime subscribers.

So next there will have to be something like "Prime Plus" to offer really, honestly, promise-we'll-do-it-this-time next-day delivery :p Only £129 per year :p
 
yep, prime is now slower than it used to be for me. I ordered something last Thursday which I could have Prime same day or prime next day. Same day was Thursday, next day was Monday.....

Depends on the product.

I ordered something last week at 9pm, it arrived next day before 12 and I don't live near a big city.
 
London here. Prime used to give me next day deliveries by 1pm, I now get them much later in the evening by random delivery people. Not too fussed mind you - although my last 3 deliveries have been dumped on my doorstep with the delivery chap running to his car as I open the front door. Hate it when that happens.
 
I recognized Amazon were no where near as good as they used to be about a year ago. These days i do not have prime and most of the time find items way cheaper than amazon elsewhere.
 
Don't have Prime myself but if I want something from them fast or it's a "Prime only" deal then I'll use my mums account to get it and transfer her the money.

TBH its been quite impressive for me - couple of things recently I ordered around 6-7pm one day and they've turned up here by mid-day the next despite me living way down in South Somerset and the item(s) being in a warehouse in Dunfermline. Though I had some USB leads from there that took about 3 days as well so not always as quick.

Principally, what is their warranty service like for electronic goods, is is straight back to manufacturer, or do they have tech services in house (Curry's do - no?)

Their warehouse deals seem to have a one year guarantee and I assume claims would be handled in the same way.

If they started offering extended warranty with Prime, that could pursuade me, RS members get/got a better guarantee - no ?

John Lewis offer a better warranty and are easier to deal with if it's a large item, especially after the first few weeks/months (I've had a couple of issues with Amazon and faulty goods after teh first 4 weeks, I think their CS people are not trained very well on returns under UK law).
 
I've worked as a driver on Amazon flex (parcels) and now Amazon prime now (groceries in a 2 hour slot) and it's given me a little more sympathy towards my prime orders that arrive late. The management of the depots is pretty shambolic and the flex drivers really get hit hard with number of deliveries v's sensible delivery times.
 
Well i've done well with their customer service. Had wanted an Amazon Alexa, i remembered it was reduced to £100 the other week but was now back at £150. Spoke to them asking if they had plans to reduce it again and they said they would soon and then have me a £5 credit for the inconvenience of me waiting!

What makes you think Logistics is any better? I've had more than one item disappear en route via that, so much so that I've opted to collect everything from the local post office so if it does go walkabout they can't accuse me of trying to pull a fast one any missing deliveries is between them and the PO to argue over.

it could be a blessing in disguise (re-posting conjecture) Amazon likely clearing out Echo supply for next-gen models

Negotiating is a good idea though, I was thinking of trying that for some of the prime exclusive stuff - ring them up and say do you want my money, or I give it to JL/Curry's.
 
Ah yeah you may be right. It's for my mother in law though so if the current gen drops again i'll likely still pick it up.

I have tried the same tactic in the past and they've just told me to add the item to my basket and they'd adjust the price for me.


EDIT - Actually just seen the certified refurbished item. For £75 i think i might just grab that.
