Amazon Prime - Dont have it then you can wait.

I have found inconsistencies in both prime and the standard deliveries more recently this year.

More items seem to be shipping from their EU warehouses and the tracking for these and estimated delivery dates fluctuate all over the place. The day before or on the day when due they always show as out for delivery then it disappears, a day later shows at the UK hub then arrives a couple of days later after that. It's almost as if the tracking auto updates to the predicted delivery date so Amazon logistics meets the SLA rather than actually reflects an items location. This has happened a number of times.

Several prime next day deliveries don't dispatch quickly enough to private addresses or once dispatched still take a few days.

It only seems to be Amazon locker / Post Office collect point deliveries that always succeed, so I assume this is down to the known capacity for a guaranteed successful delivery being prioritised in busy times.

I went without Prime for a few months again this year and had goods held at the dispatching stage for several days then slow delivery. When I paid for next day, they did always seem to arrive next day though.

I assume Amazon in-stock items include any anticipated imminent resupply so again they can get delayed in the supply chain.

Less items (on re-orders) seem to give you the option to pay a supplement to increase your delivery speed with Prime compared to last year as well.

Amazon via Web Chat always resolve or compensate for the issue. Amazon have more recently been saying to allow longer for deliveries on web chat so something isn't as slick with the logistics as it was historically.

I have also noticed nothing ever seems to come via DPD or branded courrier any more only plain white vans or cars.

Noticed this a lot lately - loads more stuff that is badged as Prime and without much more detailed scrutiny has no indication that its shipping from an EU warehouse and will be an extra 1-2 days than the normal next day delivery. Doesn't bother me too much but I had kind of got used to items having the Prime badge being delivered next day lol.

I've not had anything recently shipped within the UK come late or even failed deliveries - the odd item still comes by DPD, etc. but its very rare now.

Not sure what the complaint is here, Amazon have always taken 5 days for standard delivery
Not so, in the very early days when Prime didn't exist, it was very common to order and get next day delivery as standard. A long time ago, I was very surprised to receive Sunday deliveries from Amazon.

If you complain they give you a month free.
Used to be the case, I've not got it recently though.
Generally if they don't deliver when they say they will, you get a month free but certainly in this area, they're very good. In the last eighteen months, I've only had one delivery that didn't arrive on the day they said and for that, I did get an extra month added to my account.

I don't use the streaming service at all, for me it's all about next day delivery.

You get a month free for something not arriving on time? They seem a lot better in the UK than they are over here. I've had 4 or 5 items arrive within a month, all were damaged and had to be returned and they just said "sorry, tell our packing department". The nearest UPS dropoff (the only courier they'll accept) is an hour round trip too so returning stuff involves plenty of ******* around.

Sometimes if you complain you get a free month prime - I've had a few deliveries flagged with "Your package is still on the way, but it may arrive later than originally expected due to a transit delay." and got free months automatically even if it then turned up on time while other people have had to ask. They don't seem to be so quick to give it out any more though - I was upto several months at one time.

Same here. According to Amazon, in the past 6 months I've had 83 deliveries!!

Don't judge me :s

Impressive, I've only made 40, that is still more than 1 a week.

I buy a lot of computer kit, little bits that OCUK don't stock. My wife uses my account too, so we get filters for kettles/water jugs, dogs treats, filters for dog water fountain, simple human bin liners, bits for our big fish tank and sketchers (trainers, walking shoes) - we go through them quite quickly.

All adds up, apparently!

I average around 80 orders a year.

I'm non-prime, just recently I ordered a graphics card on a Friday, chose free delivery and it turned up on the Sunday.

"Want it delivered by tomorrow, 9 Aug.? Order within 3 hrs 6 mins and choose One-Day Delivery at checkout." How is that even possible? Who else can compete with that? Or that Sat/Sun is the same as any other day for them so can always schedule something to be delivered when I'm in. Such convenience.

Only thing that miffs me about Amazon is when I order something from the UK site, pay the UK price, pay the extra shipping, yet the package says it was shipped from the French warehouse.

I can see the OP's frustration.

I have the same problem with sky and virgin, I do not pay for the service and I'm not receiving it. its ABSOLUTE HORROR

Amazon have set up their own UK logistics network in recent years, solely delivering items ordered from their website. In the Southampton area, I believe they have a depot in Nursling, which consequently means relatively few Amazon items are delivered locally by Royal Mail.

Whilst I sort of agree that there is a two tier system in place then something comes along to blow that out of the water. I ordered a toaster yesterday afternoon and it is out for delivery or so I have just been informed.

What I don't like about Amazon is that it does not make buying items which can have a VAT exemption, if you qualify of course. In fact I am still awaiting a response to an email on this matter sent 5 days ago. I don't think Amazon's customer service is all it would like to think it is.
