Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

same email, I'll cancel my subscription too - Amazon becoming too money grabbing and my fire sticks all suck now as they are so slow and almost unusable.

Same email today. If I cancel will my fire stick still do netflix / Disney and the like or will it stop working? It's how we run our TV currently.

Yes Netflix and Disney will still work as those are separate subscriptions.

Only watch like 2 series a year on Prime, currently watching Reacher, I think the last one was LOTR, so for the limited amount I watch, not bothered.

I started to watch one series, see a couple episodes and drifted off to something else and then a while later thought I'd go back and they now want extra money to watch what was part of my prime membership a few months previous.

Yes it'll still work for everything you just won't get the Prime content without having to pay extra to buy/rent.

cant complain, peanut butter for my dog £4.90 in the pet shop
£2.50 amazon delivered next day .

even one order a fortnight like that makes prime worth its weight in gold.

Amazon prime also changed the unlimited file storage to unlimited photo storage(no more new files apart from photos and limited amount of videos)! Also got the email today.

Mine's set to renew in September, If I can get a refund for whole months then I'll probably take some time to assess whether other aspects are worth keeping it for (such as postage) and get rid of it (then sub for a month before xmas for the deliveries!)

The stuff I watch on Prime Video is available /elsewhere/ without ads and in 4k/HDR, so this won't really be an issue for me, Prime Video was a bonus feature of Prime Sub anyway as the amount of stuff I order it more than pays for itself, so I guess the video side of things effectively was a freebie all things considered.

As for photos/storage, most will have an Office subscription anyway which gives you 1TB of Onedrive storage space to use for whatever. You can have up to 5 accounts per license so worth making use of that especially if you have students or blue light card etc members in the household as it's much cheaper then too for the Office sub.

whilst out of principle i object to adverts on paid TV.... sky have them as well as charging so i guess i cant see that much of a difference.

also i have been watching a lot on freevee i think its called lately (Hell on wheels and the listener) as well as Vera on ITVX and i guess that they have gotten me used to streamed adverts.

the risk all of them are taking however by upping prices and lowering user experience with adds is that, i know a pretty reliable streaming site that so long as you have a good add blocker (or use brave browser) you have a very professional front end and has all of the shows from all of the different paid subs for free.

its illegal and for the last couple of years (decade or so really) i have not really touched it because without funding these shows wont get made................. but my "honesty" does have a limit and at some point i will just say to hell with it and go back to my old ways.

piracy is easier now that it has ever been before, i am not condoning it but these companies must surely know they can only milk the cow so much before it runs dry.

I feel your pain Diddums...

I buy products from Amazon (not resellers) and my experience regarding deliveries and pricing has been excellent. I did have a couple of no-show items in all the years I've been with them, but refunds/replacements have been swift with a little voucher for my troubles. I also use the price history graphs on products im after and wait for there algorithms to kick in when prices are on the low curves/big duscounts....I love my Amazon :D

They had it all sorted, and TV show piracy just wasnt worth the effort. Then they all got (more) greedy, and rather than put new shows on existing services, they created new ones. No one is going to subscribe to dozens of these services, so piracy will very much still be a thing and they only have themselves to blame really. we have prime, netflix and disney, so we pay our way. I wont pay for TV with Ads though, its one or the other for me, so primes days might be numbered, but the prime delivery is very useful indeed.

Just had an update email from them stating they intended to have "meaningfully" fewer ads than other ad supported platforms whatever that means :s

I don't think I'll be keeping my subscription, there's just not really anything that good on Prime Video apart from a couple of series, I did watch something on their freevee, the ads weren't that bad, but it's free to watch anyway without Prime, I'm not going to pay for a streaming service with ads when they offer one with just as rubbish choice for free
