Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

I ordered some items yesterday, fastest delivery was for Friday, checking today one item has been despatched and arriving on time but the other now says it’s arriving next Wednesday.

I’ve got Prime until June, don’t think I will be renewing.

Does anyone know if you click end membership, does it cancel your prime immediately or will it continue to run?
Mine expires in June, wondering if you can get a partial refund when cancelling if it ends immediately.

Not 100% sure but I'd imagine it will just continue until the end of your current billing period, i.e. June.

Prime is great, the next day service has never let us down. Ordered a load of Christmas gifts this year, all came on the dates specified right up to the last minute.

Even ordered a random assortment of things last night like spare laces, msg etc. All came before 10am this morning.

Prime video on the other hand has always been lacking, I’ve noticed the film catalog has shrunk considerably recently with most of the good stuff only available to rent.. I just see it as an added bonus, though.

This is a really crappy move by Amazon and is probably going to result in us ditching Prime. Even if we don't watch Prime Video we don't buy enough on there to justfiy keeping it and there is always the free 5 day delivery service. It's not as if they have much decent content on there either. Most of the newer films you have to pay extra for, a lot of series have been shifted onto their so called "video channels" which you have to pay extra for. I detest adverts and if watching normal tv will channel hop rather than watch a load of adverts. It's sad really as we originally signed up to Prime back when the video streaming service was the main reason to have it.

I've never had prime for more than a trial. If I need amazon stuff I wait until get over 25 of stuff for the free delivery.

This new advert thing.. I don't think it's going to go down well. I doubt many will pay the uplift as most people seem to see the TV service as "a nice extra"

As you click through the cancellation process you get an option to take a partial refund or let your membership run until the end of your membership year.

apparently I've watched 800 movies/shows this year
fml.
so I'll probably just pay up and be bitter about it

I wonder whether the freevee ads will go away also. I've noticed how they've been moving content from prime to freevee.

After this announcement plus the news earlier in the month that Amazon will no longer have the football next year, I will be cancelling. I only bought 66 things from Amazon last year so I can't see how I'm getting value for money out of the £95/year.

Adding 3 quid a month to remove ads from February, seems a very scummy move.

Wasn't aware of this happening until reading thia thread...

I guess it's time for me to cancel mine - I bought Prime originally to watch Grand Tour! but have found other benefits from the free shipping and the free Deliveroo deliveries.

The post-COVID shipping has gone downhill though, lots of items aren't same-day or even next-day anymore...

TBH the free shipping is enough for me. I place a lot of orders with Amazon and the free shipping is worth the monthly fee. I have never even used any of the other services I am entitled to.

Not spending money on advert avoidance, it's a rip off, just won't watch it, don't watch it anyway.
Many people I know keep telling me how they only ever buy stuff on Amazon and how it's the only place they ever shop.

It's almost as if people don't understand why monopolies are bad.

The more power you give them, the more scummy they become. Every. Single. Time.

.

It does appear their prices tend to be more expensive than ebay for little random bits, tech can be cheaper but not always, and other stuff varies. But there's a lot of poop on there backed by questionable reviews.
