Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

Haha was not directed at you.

Nothing better than Amazon
I wouldn't go that far. It's always advisable to check prices elsewhere - even ebay (on new items) can beat Amazon prices sometimes. I compared a recent purchase of an OBD2 scanner which was £200 on Amazon and £126 on ebay with free delivery. More often it is the product's OEM website that offers a discount but that's usually smaller and often doesn't offset the 'convenience factor' of buying off Amazon. There is way too much Chinese crap offered on Amazon at wildly varying prices for the same product which can be very confusing when deciding if it is the best deal or offers value for money. If you say to me 'well, don't buy Chinese crap!' I would answer most products on there originate in China and some of those products are quite costly. AliExpress is much cheaper but can be a gamble whether you actually get the product, two of my last 4 orders failed - one I cancelled because it was obvious they had no stock and they had not shipped it after 2 weeks, the other dealer strung me along for over a month having said it was shipped (they gave a tracking number but no tracking info) when it hadn't and I had to claim my money back. Plus, Aliexpress is swamped with fake items and while Amazon is not immune to that it is easier to claim a refund. Basically, with either Aliexpress or Amazon check the actual seller I.D.

A lot of the time for me it is the difference on postage price and knowing it will be delivered by Amazon, rather than taking a chance with royal mail, but it can also be stupidly expensive and tried to tempt you in with % discount today and and and.

Like most things though it is about research and being clued up.

I've bought plenty quality gear that cannot be bought elsewhere for anywhere near what I've paid Amazon.
be nice if the good listings had priority and the tat wasn't shoved in peoples faces.

unless you specifically know the good brands of stuff then your not going to find them it seems.

When I worked for VW and on a training course at MK our instructor talked about the early days of sales and how now all you need to do is add a few coloured LED lights to a car and plenty will buy it because of the pretty lights.

Amazon seems to throw up decent results when you start with quality products, but give it an inch and it'll lead you down the LED path of utter crap, which we know we want so much.

Got caught on a £500 purchase recently, when they were selling for a company, but on checking the same company was offering goodies and I ended up spending £25 more, but saved close to a £100 on the Amazon sale. That was returned and refund issued.

So after weeks of 'You should come back - No it cannot be delivered to your house, unless you pay extra - Not next day, unless you pay extra - I am now going straight to the checkout which shows Next day - Home address and No extra charges at all.

Interesting, recently I've been getting the cannot be delivered to your house pay extra, to yesteday 'we cannot deliver to this address' or ANY of my addresses. I ended up buying the same item from Robert Dyas, with some additional extras for a fiver less, delivered. It was a washing line.

So bizarre.

I'm finding ebay (new, from decent sellers) to be cheaper and just as reliable and for other items a quick google and it's often an established store which is the same or cheaper so I'm not losing out.

Ordered something last week via Prime tried to deliver on the two days I'm guaranteed to be out saturday and sunday the first the left a card the second the just left it on the doormat. According to T&C's you get 5 attempts to deliver they gave up after 2. Email stated "handed to resident". Um, nope.

I regularly order something from eBay and its delivered by Amazon...

They do that here most of the time (even though there is someone in) - dump on the doorstep, "handed to resident". Can't say I'm that bothered by it though maybe with all the CCTV they reckon it is safe enough heh.

Amazon wont let me order a Navy blue dylon ball to a pickup location because its full
So I change the dye colour to Jeans Blue... and it would let me order it

Amazons absolutely ridiculous when it comes to items that cost under 20quid and ordering to pickup locations...

oh the pick up locations full.. even when its not.... happens all too often.

I'm trying to order multiple items that cost well over £100 combined...

and they won't let me order a tiny dye ball......

guess what Amazon.. I just don't order any of it from you.

Amazon have definitely declined over the years.

  • Not the cheapest anymore, more expensive if your not careful
  • Next day delivery is 50/50, assuming it arrives
  • Any issues after 30 days is a pain

I used to be a dedicated Amazon customer with Prime and the music subscription. Cancelled both and use the pickup option for free and Apple Music. I try to avoid Amazon because of the poor customer service and pricing now.

Want to watch Fallout and Clarkson's Farm, and a few other things, only want to sub for a month, maybe 2. Want to go ad free, Im wondering is it better value to go Prime monthly or just get prime video (ad free)?

I don't plan on using postage but I sometimes buy the odd item on amazon.

The ads aren't that long or frequent yet, but still annoying to have.
