Amazon..

You can tell it not to automatically renew straight after you sign up for the trial, so there's no fault with Amazon here. Though I do actually use Prime myself since it's a bargain with how much stuff I order off Amazon throughout the year.

1) Person agrees to terms & conditions
2) Person is billed, as per agreement
3) Person goes mental, merchant cancels payment as gesture of goodwill

...

5) Person rages

You couldn't make it up.

This was a while back when I think prime was fairly new. I probably read the T+C but I just forgot I had signed up for it. I was just a bit annoyed that the first reminder I got was from the bank along was a fine:(. It's great that they refund the membership fee, but a day one reminder would saved me the fine. I understand it was my fault though:o.

Amazon = FleaBay

Amazon gets more and more like FleaBay every day. Still, they are absolutely huge and make lots of money . . . for someone . . . so we mustn't criticise their shady business practices ;)

You sound like a guy in my office. Whenever he has a problem with his computer, I say "What did you do?" "I didn't do anything!" "Well it doesn't just do things on its own!" :p

Unfortunately, you must have agreed to register with it :p Your own fault :p

I did the free trial in 2009, got my goods on one-day free delivery, then remembered to cancel before the paid upgrade. Just did it again and have made a note in my phone calendar to cancel it again. My phone vocally reads out all my calendar events, so I won't forget it :p

Seeing as its been revives, I'd just like to say that I too didn't realise amazon charged me £50 last year for prime (completely my fault), but when I realised about a year later, I'd ordered and benefitted so much from it that I just paid to renew it again :D

I have apparently placed 70 orders in 2012.

£49 is a bargain ! That is like £0.70p for next day delivery each time.

Is that with the free postage they always seem to offer?
I've never bothered with that if that's the case.

There is a difference between free postage and Amazon Prime.

Free postage they often don't post it next day, or the day after, often it takes a couple of days in "processing".

Amazon Prime is next day delivery, however the caveat is you can't choose what by.

Ohh, so if you were to order on Amazon a lot its worth the money :D
Might look into that if i ever start using Amazon like i used to.

Nice thread revival. You can cancel now and you still get the free trial.

I know, but I'm paranoid that they might see I've cancelled, get lazy and not guarantee my tuesday delivery anymore (probably not), plus it's a bit mean if they see I've blatantly cancelled it before I've even received my goods while they still guarantee me delivery by tuesday. :p

You only get it from Amazon sellers, and Amazon processed sellers I think? Not marketplace sellers?

That's the biggest catch as I see it...

You can filter the page by Amazon Prime eligibility. Normally if there is a fee on postage then it is 3rd Party and not guarantee next day.

So many people have clicked the free trial and then not cancelled, amazon must be rolling.
