amd 12.6 Beta CAP1 & AMD Catalyst 12.6 Beta Driver

Oh NV have fixed there TDR issues then ?

I couldn't give a stuff mate - I'm not one of these saddos who gets protective over their graphics cards manufacturer of choice.

I've had cards from both manufacturers over the years - I buy whatever offers the best bang for buck at the time.

All I know is that I have a 7950 in my case which is about as stable as an schizophrenic essex blonde with OCD.

Which given my last card was an 4870X2 - i'm really surprised that it's even worse.

I don't get the atikmpag.sys BSODs, but when you say
Hope this fixes the common problems regarding atikmpag.sys BSOD's that people are getting but being AMD, I won't hold my breath.
it implies that if it was the other it would be sorted which is not the case.

Nothing wrong with you moaning about the atikmpag.sys BSODs and wanting it sorted but don't make out like its not a problem for the other side, funny how it always seems to be the same people getting it on there setup while others rarely get it, its about facts and not about protective over manufacturer of choice, but just lashing out is easier than getting to the nitty gritty of facts.
The 7xxx is a mess but if you believe that they will not sort it then no one is forcing you to keep it because if it was me i wouldn't if i thought that but i wouldn't of bought the 7xxx in the first place so soon or even not at all as its too new and different from before, getting the kinks out would take more time.

Hmm, not good for me. 2 hard crashes in 2 days to black screen in Firefox with these drivers on a 7970 at stock.

Back to 12.4 for me.

I gave up using catalyst in favour of Afterburner, Catalyst just won't load on my PC despite being installed

I don't fit into "the same people" category, 7970 here atikmpag.sys BSOD x116 12.4 cats and this error will occur with dual monitor setup

I am going to give the betas a whirl.

When I said "being AMD" it wasn't a dig at Nvidia being better. It was more reference that this issue has been going on since the 5xxx series cards and it still persists with no official comment from them on it as far as I'm aware.

Google atikmpag.sys BSOD and see how many generations it spans.

Not sure what you are banging on about about the "same people" getting these problems - I've never had such problems before or anything similar. Fact of the matter from experience of chopping and changing between manufacturers, ATI cards have always been buggier for me.

I've also mentioned nothing about the "other side" as mentioned for the third time now - thats just you being the stereotypical defensive Graphics Cards Subforum Poster - getting defensive as if I've just insulted your family or something.

I dont care whether Nvidia has similar problems or not - all I care about is that I have a useless card at the moment - Hows that for a fact for you? Why would I have bought an 7950 if I was so pro NV? My last card was a 4870X2 and before that was a NV 7900GTO - hardly living in a manufacturers pocket.

To be honest I don't have much faith that they will fix it as it has been prevalent for at least 3 generations of cards now.

Obviously I know that no one is forcing me to keep it, and its comical you would think that I would keep a BSOD'ing card. It's in the process of being RMA'd.

I've been advised by support to go for a 670 instead - it may well cause me similar or other problems, but from the advice I have - replacing the card like for like probably wont solve this.

Hi everyone :) I was wondering if anyone has problems with Afterburner and the 12.6`s? Actually the 12.4`s` had same the problem, which is some games will not boot properly with AB running.I will get to the first set set of screens in shogun/max payne/alice and a few more i cant remember, then it minimizes and sticks unless i shut down AB.Also had 3 hard crashes in 3 2 days all of which were resuming from sleep.Im using TRIXX but disabling ulps does nothing at all.
Sorry,I forgot to say i have a 7970 xfx overclocked to 1100/1550/1.1v

1)Your comment could have been taken both ways and in the current climate don't be surprised.

2)It will span every generation because its not just down to driver error causing it, especially in the hands of enthusiasts with how much they like to screw around with things out of spec.

I have 4 5xxx series GPUs im my rig with 3 monitors and not once has a driver given me persistent atikmpag.sys BSODs outside of Ocing my hardware, system ram dieing and only other time was when i had to fix a clients PC that was purely down to ram incompatibility.

3)Its nothing to do with being pro anything, its do with what you believe to be so and if you believe that all your atikmpag.sys BSODs are down to the drivers then you should have switched years ago.

I had an issue with my 1900xt CF on an ASUS A8R-MVP 939, it would give faint horizontal lines under CPU load, put the cards in the DFI no issue, put the cards in the MSI, no issue.

Bought a Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe AMD 790FX and back came the faint horizontal lines under CPU load, sometimes compatibility just sucks, so for the duration of the 1900xtx CF i avoided Asus, or i could have just stuck with the ASUS A8R-MVP 939 upgraded to the Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe AMD 790FX and moan at ATI for my issues.

Drivers are OK for me, except sometimes when watching flash video on YouTube. The screen will flash black for a split second, aero has switched to windows 7 basic theme, and CCC shows 90% activity and I can hear the GPU fan speed up. This will go on for a few minutes, even after closing YouTube, then it will switch back and everything OK again.

This happen to anyone else? Didn't happen on previous drivers.

Seem fine for me so far, with a bit of a performance increase actually (not a lot obviously but it's noticeable).

I did lose the overclocking options in Asus GPU Tweak but that was easy enough to rectify and working fine now :)

Repeated cream screens of death here, rolled back to 12.4 whql
Edit: should have said, happens whilst on Firefox 13 (happened on Firefox 12 also)
