AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

It depends on person to person I think, I am on 1440p and I don't care about ray tracing. The 6800XT's excel on 1440p whereas the 3000 series cards pull a bit ahead at 4K. But I'm not planning on upgrading to 4K anytime soon yet, I've not that long ago upgraded from 1080p monitors. I don't think Ray tracing is at a point yet that it's worth turning it on in games to make it worth tanking your FPS for. The games already look great on max. Am I gonna notice how cool some shadows look as I'm swiping to shoot things in the face?? Maybe a few years ray tracing will matter to me. Personally not getting the hype for it.

Big markup for a bit of rgb

Well said- I agree I’m dismayed at the price hike, naively thought I could pay £580 and get it from AMD.

Sights now lower, now looking at 6800s non Xt for around 600-700
Are people so desperate, and the purchase so vital, that they'll spend £700 on a non-XT 6800?

I mean knock yourselves out, but that's an absurd mark-up for these cards. Close to £200 in fact.

Exactly my thoughts RT still tanks every card and it’ll be years before it’s at a playable frame rate for me I’ll be choosing a 6800xt over the 3080 if I can get my hands on one.

Scalpers asking for £800 for non XT so ~£600-700 reasonable from e-tailers

Trouble is the 3080 only has 10gb vram so likely won't last more than 3 years, planning to keep the 6800 or XT for at least 5 years

trouble is Cold War on pc plays like poo on my RTX 2060 at 20-30fps at 1440p max settings with RT on. With DLSS (a saviour in my opinion) on quality I get 70-80 FPS with max setting and RT on ultra.

Based on the above I like many others are looking for new cards to hit decent performance. All contributes to the buying frenzy and price hikes.

I assume that 70-80fps is when your in the Alley at the very beginning of the game and not when playing the Da Nang mission? :D

Has there been any definite time when the cards are being listed today ?? 14:00 UK time or earlier/later ??

OCUK are listing from 14:00 but you may not be able to preorder straight away, they said they want to stagger the buttons to try keeping the site online unlike last weeks launch.

Opsi, didn't think of checking their site since over here in Sweden they not listed at all yet ! Would hopefully mean around 15:00 then, just like last week. Thanks for quick reply ! :)

Jayz 2 cents just tweeted retailers have even less or zero stock of AIB cards and it's worse than Nvidias 30 series launch. And considering that's the States I think we stand little chance today. I've £700 aside for a Saphire card and was hoping for an 6800XT for Christmas but I don't think much of my chances now. Plus this site will crash anyway. That and ocuk will stick £80on top off the price.

Well that's disappointing :( My new build is sitting behind me just waiting for a CPU (5600x on pre-order) and a new GPU.

It is very disappointing yes I totally agree. I'm thinking they might have maybe single digits and after that the pre order button will be available but I don't fancy waiting months in a queue whilst ocuk have my money in the bank and I'm bound to them, I might just sit it out and wait until next year.

Assume you’re aware that you’ll get worse performance with those settings on an AMD card as their RT is worse and they lack a DLSS equivalent.

If RT and DLSS are important to you then the 3070 or upcoming 3060ti is probably a better bet.
