AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

Jayz 2 cents just tweeted retailers have even less or zero stock of AIB cards and it's worse than Nvidias 30 series launch. And considering that's the States I think we stand little chance today. I've £700 aside for a Saphire card and was hoping for an 6800XT for Christmas but I don't think much of my chances now. Plus this site will crash anyway. That and ocuk will stick £80on top off the price.

OcUK people already said last week or so that this will be the case here as well. As in, close to 0 stock, paper lunch today. And little stock arriving in coming weeks. In other words, forget about getting one this year. Ah, and they did mention prices will be considerably higher than initial stock models, too. Similar to what happaned to NVidia cards.

I haven't heard this - would be nice as the reference cards appear very good - and quiet and low temps as well as being short!

"As we posted in our recent post, XFX is also going to sell the Made by AMD / Reference Edition of the RX 6800 XT under its own branding. It is now official form XFX themselves. There isn't any difference in the actual card from the reference edition, XFX haven't even slapped stickers with their brand name on the card except the box itself. All the dimensions and clock speeds, power requirements and TGP are exactly same as the Reference Edition."

It is very disappointing yes I totally agree. I'm thinking they might have maybe single digits and after that the pre order button will be available but I don't fancy waiting months in a queue whilst ocuk have my money in the bank and I'm bound to them, I might just sit it out and wait until next year.

Exactly what i am doing. im going to treat my 3900x to 32gb of faster ram and wait until next year or the 7000 series cards. My 5700xt will suffice for a long time yet. i just wanted a bit of fancy new Ray tracing for cyberpunk but im not stressing over buying a new card and then over paying. the prices are ridiculous.

Thanks the article also says ASUS, Sapphire will also keep the reference design without any own branding.

Good news as I had wanted a reference design to go with my build.

I might not need to settle for a reference 6800 then through eScalpers!

My fear with this is that a lot of people want Ray Tracing and if every new generations makes a big jump in RT performance, people will want to keep updating meaning the prices will stay high for a few generations to come.

YouTube today "This cards awesome you can't buy it for the next 6 months"

YouTube tomorrow "This isnt a paper launch guys all us YouTubers have cards!"

yeah exactly my thoughts. i guess we could always buy a previous gen card at half the price?

the scalpers are ready, watch 3pm hundreds appear on the bay

I suspect there won't be hundreds of cards in all of UK today. Possibly there won't even be 100 of them (we'll see) today. Hence, no - a few at most will end up on eBay is my prediction. Not that it makes it any better for us!

Rasterization hasn't been increasing much for a while now. 6800 series is pretty much faster mostly because it's much bigger than 5700 series - that isn't a growth they can sustain. So RT might indeed be the new thing that vendors will start pushing to sell new cards, as it still has a lot of performance to come in the future. Which also means, no matter what we buy this year, end of next year might again have much faster RT cards from both vendors. And so people thinking they buy for 3-5 years might be very disappointed. But hey, that would be back to good old times, where PCs were very outdated almost every year. :)

The prices of previous gen cards seem to be higher than normal, think everyone has the same idea. i hope I can get a 6800xt today or at least a preorder, fingers crossed!:p

You do realise if it's a pre-order you won't get one this year, don't you? OC already said, there will be very small number of AIB ones this year all together. And I suspect next year might not be any better till Summer or so. And by the time everyone from pre-orders gets current gen, new one will be knocking on the door...

I want out the f5 game if a pre order is the only way so be it.

I share this sentiment, though after waiting 2 months for 3080 TUF before I pulled the plug, I rather just skip this gen all together than lock my money in pre-order game for unknown time. :/ Sadly, this isn't consoles, where you know for a fact you will get one in sensible time if you pre-order. Here it's all unknown with shop not being able to tell us any real ETA or numbers at all. As they simply do not know either. You might even not get a card ever, if they decide it's not worth producing it in any sensible numbers (like said 3080 TUF non-OC).

Last week OcUK said that all cards sold today will be pre-order, as stock won't arrive until "late Nov / early Dec". So I think everyone is buying on pre-order.
