AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

Hi there

We shall be launching cards around 2pm to browse, but we won't be taking any orders online or via the phones sorry.

Reasoning is simply due to lack of stock and were unwilling to allow a crazy backorder situation to build up on a product that we see very little stock incoming on this year.

Any stock that does come in, we shall give a heads up on the forum before making available to order, but that is very unlikely to happen this week, more like next week.

So in short today all you can do is window shop.

Sorry guys but we get so much flak when you guys are waiting on your orders and when I have gone and ordered 50,000 units and might struggle to see a few hundred cards this side of Christmas, it is ourselves who get the blame and the negative reviews, but as we do not manufacturer the product it is out of our control and considering that we can literally take 1000+ orders per minute on these new GPU launches which then causes havoc we have to take measures to stop this happening.

As such the product won't be available to order from OcUK today, when we feel we have adequate stock to make product available to order we shall do so and announce that date/time only on our forum.
Commendable (although disappointing at the same time)

Remember when we were saying nV had had such a bad lauch, and AMD could clean up by having their own cards available in large numbers?

Yeah, that worked out well.

Thanks for the update Gibbo!

Just goes to show what terrible situation AMD (and Nvidia of course) have created. A launch with no cards for sale. These companies should be ashamed, and be shamed by reviewers for this.

He says that it's actually the negative reviews and anger/hate being shown against OC that has caused them to do this. If everyone just calmed down over the last few launches, weren't such angry toy throwers and accepted that this was mostly out of OC's hands, a few people would be able to get these cards today.

Hopefully some people here will learn from this for next time.

Thanks for letting us know. Though as I need the card, I will be waiting longer to hear when we can order but it is not something you can control. Thanks again

Thank you for the update, I think this is a very sensible approach given the CPU/GPU situation right now. I'll be adding cards to my wishlist and keeping an eye on the 6900 XT launch.

Nonsense, he can't sell a card he has no stock of and trying to sell a tiny number would result in his whole website crashing. This is AMD's mess.

I believe you're doing the right thing, it's much better to have stock first than to have many very unhappy customers bashing you. The latter only because you're the only party they can contact and bash directly.

Sounds like stock is a lot worse than ampere

In fairness if we had known in advance how short Ampere would be we would have taken similar measures.

By doing so it will mean there will be no mad rush at OcUK, we will miss out on taking around 10,000 backorders and having over 9000 very annoyed customers blaming us as to why they won't get a card this side of Christmas.

When our small amounts of stock land, the only, ONLY mention of them being here and being made available to order shall be this forum, NOWHERE ELSE, marketing are under instructions no promotion on any more GPU's until stocks can improve.

The manufacturers have got to stop this, yes launch products but launch them with much larger stock piles.

Will you be making a stock thread / sticky to track the situation (cards incoming ect) like the 3080/90 ?

Yeah, that worked out well.

I had high hopes for AMD and I really thought they want to fill in the hole left after NVidia and gain lots of nice income. Instead they created even bigger hole and seriously damaged their image with such approach to lunch. Really bad for both of these companies to create hype train, then fail so horribly. I still get adverts from shops and both AMD and NVidia to buy their cards! Which is like pouring vinegar on an open wound - so nice of them! :/

AMD's mess but at least they have some excuse.

TMC is churning out wafers for Ryzen, Radeon, Microsoft and Sony which have all released products at the same time.

AMD could have waited but nVidia went early and the consensus from everybody at the time was 'AMD need to follow up quickly'. Well this is what happens.

Two companies in a ******* contest but they're dying from dehydration.
