AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

Judging by that, i'm potentially a couple of hundred places later. Might see how it goes but will probably cancel and wait.
We'll email you one way or the other this evening and start to process cancellations immediately. We have been led to believe that these particular models were "one hit wonders". A wider range of cards will launch next week.

I don't have anything to do with setting pricing on these products so I'm not going to comment on that but I will say that I when looked at our cost price I thought that the stated MSRP must have been a mistake.

As for the rest, you wouldn't believe how much we've done to try to resolve these issues. We're investing in a new website and a whole new back end system but these take a long time to implement. We've restricted the regions who can purchase these products and also invested in some server side traffic controls, bot protection AND third party "Cloudflare" protection but these combined still haven't been able to protect us from the hundred fold traffic surge. This traffic clogs up our servers and causes our own back end access portal to crash before the NDA lifts, so we are unable to do what we'd usually do to ensure that products show up on time. This traffic starts to hit us well before the actual launch time, but obviously, we can't launch before the time on AMD's NDA because they could refuse to supply stock if we did.

Can we find and implement another solution in time for next week? possibly not, but don't think that we don't share your frustration.

As for communicating what stock we have, Gibbo does. Specifics don't really help anybody as they just add to the panic and it also gives the scalpers more ammunition and more reason to try their luck. Needless to say AMD's supply was nowhere near what we knew we'd need, hence Gibbo's very clear "limited stock" warning at the start of this epic tale.

Appreciate the effort. Excited to see the new site. Please try to aim for MSRP though, whether surprising or not, it's becoming unsurprising to see you guys charging more than competitors for the same products. OCUK is no longer my go-to PC store.

Any clue which day next week?

Yeah I got the German message.

But I also found the jarrod ;)

This is how it went...
It was an unlikely set of events

Forum member found ebay item
Ebay item had copy of receipt with name and time exposed (1438)
I searched for jarrod and found his forum name was his real name.
Jarrod mentions 'have I got one.. I ordered at 1438'

Times match
Names match

= entertainment.

Appreciate your reply Scott.

Obviously I don't know what your cost price is but that other retailer had them on sale for £599 (XT) and £529 (non-XT). That's quite a difference to you, and to be honest the AMD dollar prices are around about that after conversion + VAT.

All of us here just want the same thing next week, to have an equal chance of getting the cards and for the prices to be fair. Can you tell us if you will be able to communicate anything about the AIB products coming to market in the coming week, or will it be a 13:58 rushed post next Wednesday as well?

I think to be honest we'd just appreciate better communication. The explanation above is perfectly reasonable but sometimes its like getting blood from a stone trying to find out what the situation is.

Thanks for the reply. So i assume that none of these (power colour 6800 i ordered) Would be in stock anytime soon to hold onto a place?

Have the in stock numbers been allocated then?

i had an order confirmation as per the folk above, i decided I'd suck up the extra £80 if I could get one today but if I'm now on a wait list I'm not 100% sure its worth it...

No waiting list, you will know today if its shipping or you will get an auto refund

Got an email from amazon "Your payment to Overclockers UK is complete", I hope I am one of the lucky ones now, seen how rare this card will be.

But this kinda conversation you just had goes such a long way to helping ease a tense situation, I hope this feedback is heard/realised.

Im not a fan of OC at the moment, the optics are pretty scummy however listening to you talk about stuff openly? Should be encouraged and is welcomed and im sure while there will always be those that will just be a pain to be a pain, the majority who are reasonable who have been crying out for some sort of transparency welcome this kind of feedback from people like yourself in the know.

At this point I personally don't feel OC could do any more damage by being a bit more open like this, and yes I get on the inside of the OC bubble perhaps some of the frustration you see must seem quite mad or maddening at times? However inside the bubble the optics will look clear and understandable, we aren't inside the bubble though is the point and many myself included will not use OC unless its an absolute last resort.
Hope that's taken in the good spirit its given.

Dam I just wanted to get one that would be easy to get a water block for so by default ..... reference
whilst we don't know anything for sure I'd expect many of the AIB cards to be reference PCB still...It's the AMD designed coolers which will definitely change.

Given the backend of the website appears to be a tragic mess, why don't you offload pre-orders to a separate queue system which is much more efficient and can handle the traffic, then migrate the orders over to the main system once the peak demand is over. Ive implemented this for various customers over the years who have product demand spikes and it works very well and can be set up very quickly if your web team graft for a day.
