AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

Bought a card yesterday in Bolton at a more respectable price with less hassle

I'd have liked to have purchased from OcUK though, but the gauging (not only just this product) has gotten out of hand and is treating people like mugs. The other tech forums I use are ripping them to bits and it's not nice to see. I enjoy this forum and have done for years, but as far as purchasing goes they are down on my go to places unfortunately for the time being :/

Any more toys left in that pram?

try stamping your feet a bit more, maybe you'll get one.

Have you noticed it's all these new members that are wetting themselves over these launches.

The rest of us are just plain old used to being shafted

So there will be no more XT's (Sapphire or Powercolor)?
On the 25th it's likely that you'll find that Sapphire and Powercolor will both have XT cards available (we don't have the information yet so we can't confirm) but they're not going to be this model. They'll have different cooling solutions and potentially different PCB designs.

These MBA cards aren't REALLY Sapphire or Powercolor. They are made by AMD and sent to selected partners to label and box. That's why they are identical and why they are so limited.

Also just got my cancelation email, Thanks for the service @Gibbo & @ScottiB for the feedback in this thread ill be back next week to try give the money again :D

And to all the people complaining about over selling & prices ...

A) The 1st post in this topic was a run down of why flaws in the current system cannot avoid over selling in this situation. so the solution was to process all orders into last light (long day for OCUK staff)
B) The price is the price regardless of if OCUK charges more than someone else its down to you as the consumer as to if you want to spend that . . . .

In fairness to OCUK the staff where on this thread well passed closing time yesterday keeping us all informed ....

@Gibbo are the AIB listings under the same style NDA as this weeks launch or with those product pages go live some time before launch ? (or will be waiting 2pm again)

Also will you be stocking the one that shares the name with a form chinese martial arts ..... from some ground formation :| (could not think of a more obscure way of asking that question)

It is 2pm next Wednesday but I won't go live at 2pm as to be frank we don't want this mad rush and considering we have done everything in our power to try and work with the system we have they are still falling over and causing issues.

As such we will launch next Wednesday, but it shall be after 2pm so expect them late afternoon. What we may do is list them at 2pm but not allow ordering, then once the website is stable and traffic levels are more normal we will allow ordering to be enabled as that seems the best approach to try and keep the website online.

Yeah - yesterday I almost bought a 3070 elsewhere that was 21.5% cheaper than OcUK for the same model! but it went out of stock before I'd made up my mind, then hovered over one that was almost £50 cheaper before managing to order an FE card.

A bit extra is one thing but some of these prices are crazy - the unfortunate thing is they could probably add a 0 to the price and they'd still sell albeit more slowly.

Sound like a fantastic idea, thanks for keeping the feedback up in this thread

Dont need one got an FE. if you think its acceptable to take 800 peoples money and then refund them afterwards when you only had 200 cards to start with then good for you, I know loads of companies that would love you as a customer.

Just keep counting the excuses, keep coming thick and fast.

When you list them, will it have the prices?

yep i have, there are some right self entitled gimps.

i managed to grab a Vega64 on launch day from here. Not sure they were quite as in demand though.

They have already said that due to a known limitation of the system under heavy load they cant stop in flight orders getting processed.

From experience with highly demand services like this you can either have a synchronised data and only process one order at a time (any large retail side cannot do this to be functional at all) or run an asynchronous system where the database is synchronised periodically (most retail sites will do this for load tolerance OR fault tolerance)

Either way having hundreds (probably nearing a thousand) of orders hitting the servers at once is a valid excuse (one that the OP have quite openly admitted)

Also the traffic pattern from bots is way more harsh than a human user (it takes time to move the mouse around the screen and enter card details)

I was trying to replace my Day0 Vega 64 from OCUK with a Day0 6800XT, is the game :) only part is the sites do fall over harder with the new launces :D

If a system can not keep up with activity you use a different system, the fact we are on the 4 the big release and still the mark ups and crashes and overselling is happening is making this look like a problem that ocuk don't want to fix.

You could just have it so members then public get first dibs, encourages people to have accounts and stops scalping Abit more but sadly no gonna happen it seems.

Next week the same will happened and the same reasons will be put out there.

The one big flaw here is, you will potentially have the website extremely unusable for a huge portion of the day if you list them earlier, as many people will sit on the site waiting for them to go live to grab one... so potentially you'll lose sales on other products if the website is struggling.
