I was trying to replace my Day0 Vega 64 from OCUK with a Day0 6800XT, is the game only part is the sites do fall over harder with the new launces
Yeah, recent launches appear to be crashing every site.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Bought a card yesterday in Bolton at a more respectable price with less hassle
I'd have liked to have purchased from OcUK though, but the gauging (not only just this product) has gotten out of hand and is treating people like mugs. The other tech forums I use are ripping them to bits and it's not nice to see. I enjoy this forum and have done for years, but as far as purchasing goes they are down on my go to places unfortunately for the time being :/
If a system can not keep up with activity you use a different system, the fact we are on the 4 the big release and still the mark ups and crashes and overselling is happening is making this look like a problem that ocuk don't want to fix.
You could just have it so members then public get first dibs, encourages people to have accounts and stops scalping Abit more but sadly no gonna happen it seems.
Next week the same will happened and the same reasons will be put out there.
When you list them, will it have the prices?
It isn't because there are preventative measures you can put in place, like I said concurrent users would allow only a number of sessions to be active at any one time, so they don't need to have excessive amounts hitting the database, quick fix if you can't handle it for a limited time. Alternatively the good old dog and bone for a limited time if you only have 200 cards, yes it would be an absolute b*****d but for sake of not screwing people over its a viable alternative. They have already said that due to a known limitation of the system under heavy load they cant stop in flight orders getting processed.
From experience with highly demand services like this you can either have a synchronised data and only process one order at a time (any large retail side cannot do this to be functional at all) or run an asynchronous system where the database is synchronised periodically (most retail sites will do this for load tolerance OR fault tolerance)
Either way having hundreds (probably nearing a thousand) of orders hitting the servers at once is a valid excuse (one that the OP have quite openly admitted)
Also the traffic pattern from bots is way more harsh than a human user (it takes time to move the mouse around the screen and enter card details)
You are stretching here.
Firstly, there is competition. It's not like OCUK holds a monopoly. Any retailer is permitted to supply these cards to the market.
Secondly, consumer rights are not broken in any way. Prices are clearly shown. You have choice to buy or not. Goods are as described. You can cancel orders. You can return orders. You can get your money back. There is an unknown wait time but I think retailers are generally being truthful about that (that they don't know how long).
You are not going to see this come up on 'Watchdog' or any other consumer rights forum...

Imagine if OcUk sold them you’d be looking at £600.Generally speaking the bigger stores that would sell PS5s have pretty serious integrity standards when it comes to pricing.
On the 25th it's likely that you'll find that Sapphire and Powercolor will both have XT cards available (we don't have the information yet so we can't confirm) but they're not going to be this model. They'll have different cooling solutions and potentially different PCB designs.
These MBA cards aren't REALLY Sapphire or Powercolor. They are made by AMD and sent to selected partners to label and box. That's why they are identical and why they are so limited.
Limiting session would just means bots would probably outpace human users at every time, you could have a "waiting room" but that also can normally abused via automatic methods (sharing session cookies ect).
A phone line would need a call centre for 1h only .....
really? You'd think so but the way I read the excuses like the banks "dragging their feet" does ring alarm bells... The problem I have and its particularly prevalent with launching a product this year is a kids mum wants to buy their son/daughter a gfx card and hasnt got the first clue about pricing yet calls up a retailer to which takes full of advantage of the mothers lack of knowledge, has stock but overly inflated prices.
If you'd read my comments made yesterday you'd know that we've been trying. We've introduced three new "traffic protection" methods since the 3080 launch but, combined, they still couldn't protect us.If a system can not keep up with activity you use a different system
It is 2pm next Wednesday but I won't go live at 2pm as to be frank we don't want this mad rush and considering we have done everything in our power to try and work with the system we have they are still falling over and causing issues.
As such we will launch next Wednesday, but it shall be after 2pm so expect them late afternoon. What we may do is list them at 2pm but not allow ordering, then once the website is stable and traffic levels are more normal we will allow ordering to be enabled as that seems the best approach to try and keep the website online.
Will there be the Overclockers Tax piled on top of these cards too?
I know ferraris are expensive to maintain but a lot of us here have had a hard time with covid and aren't in businesses that are booming as a consequence of it... like gym equipment, bikes and "cough cough" tech supplies.
As a key worker, I consider myself lucky to be working double, but I'd love to be able to relax and play some games when I'm finally off.
In my opinion you have to be daft to ever shop there again.Of course they're will be, look at previous prices and compare to competitors. Have to be desperate to pay OcUK prices recently.
we do, we implemented it to filter out bots when the RTX 3080 attacks came to light...Bots aren't the problem this time. Thousands of hits per minute and god know how many people hitting refresh every ten seconds was...Cloudflare was introduced to try to temper this load but it doesn't seem to have worked as well as they claimed it would.Don't ocuk use Captcha yet?
If not, why not?
It's very easy to implement and it's free.
Hi, not sure if I am posting in the right area. Could anyone confirm if the new RDNA 2 (6800 and 6800xt) cards will come with the free games (Godfall and WoW Shadowlands) offered with some of the RDNA 1 cards (5600xt, 5700, 5700xt etc)
