AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

I just wonder what I will move onto next without getting divorced :D:p

let's be honest, if you are still OK with the performance, what's the rush? six months time, everything has launched and there's maybe even a second hand market (scalper free) growing, you might find a bargain. I see no rush to upgrade myself (admittedly I'm on 2080Ti) but I'm not even going to consider a new card until the New Year. Judging from Nvidia's market data there's a LOT of people running mid range cards from two or three generations ago who have likely been waiting for these launches and that might have some part to play in the demand levels.

Agreed, let's not forget here that it isn't so much the why, how and where.......OCUK tried to pull the wool over initial stock, mechanism for buying on the actual day and then had the brass neck to make it look like they were doing forum members a favour the following day and also make a complete pigs ear of that too.
Reputation already tarnished, I won't be buying again especially on release days because trust and integrity is already lost.

It's better to see how things play out. If you can get a good deal, why overpay for something just to spite someone else? Just keep yourself informed.

One positive that has kept me coming back to OcUK up until this point is the aftersales support I've received when things function normally (As in they haven't created a storm of support calls and tickets because they keep letting people pre order). They even posted me a random adaptor for my Megahalems out years ago for free as I simply couldn't find one in stock anywhere. Someone was interested enough to go dig through their bucket of spare parts and send it. Small things like that matter.

If you had been more active two months ago it would have helped out though. The bizarre reliance on the mods for a good chunk of time really did you guys no favours.
It has been a crazy year for sure, nobody has had time to breath...the usual summer quiet period didn't materialise...I'm having to force the guys in the purchasing team to use up all of their remaining holiday before the cycle ends. I even had to cancel a load of 'holiday' plans for my fiancée's birthday after the Zen 3 launch was announced (that made me popular).

We're a dedicated bunch but wow, it has been tough. We all count our blessings though, I'd rather be stressed because we're busy rather than being stressed because we're not.

Yep, but honesty of the site/staff matters more.....and this is where OCUK have just massively let themselves down. For example, there are quite a few people asking questions to Gibbo and the OCUK staff following yesterdays cluster, but why would anyone believe what they say in their reply? Reputation and trust is a big thing, and OCUK have just blown it by not being honest in their previous answers and today's attempts to bring their names out of the mud.

But you do realise everyone is in the same boat....it's not just OCUK and we're all aware of the difficulties. That however, doesn't excuse people/retailers/staff to try and pull the wool.

We don't, I don't know where you get this opinion, Gibbo was VERY clear on the situation when he opened this thread and unfortunately it played out as worst feared.

This is a warning to all members, we have everything in place, 1pc per customer, UK only customers, DDOS & BOT protection and everything else enabled to ensure these cards only go to gamers are all active and ready.

HOWEVER!!!

Stock is extremely limited, we literally have a few hundred cards across the 6800 series and we expect to sell out and over sell today due to current volumes of people on our website.

As such please respect we are likely to oversell as our website cannot pull the product fast enough if 1000+ all try to order at once.

If you read my responses on this thread I've gone into detail about why it all went **** up and apologised numerous times despite the issues not being under our direct control, and went into detail about what we were going to be doing to resolve the orders.

I can 100% understand the frustration of trying to get a card, appearing to secure one only to find out that we've oversold, but nobody ever tried to hide the magnitude of the situation from you guys.

No replies to my reasonable enquires about this mess.
But whoever said about OC scalping us those 2070Supers they sold for £750 and £800 over the last couple of days is disgraceful behaviour. I got one of them for £470 here last year.
If you havent given me my money back by wednesday I wont even be able to try not that it will be any better than the 18th but with higher prices.
And since I buy for my work I wont even bother getting a quote for the 87 computers I need replacing on principle given this is how you treat your customers.
Well said PDUK216.

I've just had an email from a competitor offering me a 6800xt. When their site went live the only way to order was to email your details...I did it..twice at about 14:15pm and they have just confirmed I was successful. All paid up and waiting for Monday delivery.

Happy days...

I know the one you mean I did see that and thought it was a bit odd and wondered if I should, then they were gone...

Coming on here and telling people that you have business costs to justify your over inflated prices is absolutely ridiculous when all your other competitors have exactly the same type of costs and still managed to put them out there at the recommended price. I'm sorry but you can try and put whatever slant you want on it you are just being greedy and taking advantage of the current situation and the car you like to flaunt around on your signature proves that your profits are not struggling at all!

I'm very calm thanks......a forum isn't just here to blow smoke up people's backsides. If you don't want people to reply negatively, then it's not 'value' you're after, it's censorship.
I think we need to aim negativity squarely at AMD & Nvidia for setting an expectation and then falling dramatically short. The rest is just a side effect of the cause.

AMD should have labelled the 6800 series event not as a "launch day", but, as a "Press launch with minimal supply to public". Nvidia should have done the same. This way, expectations would have been really managed.

People like Frank Az**** from AMD really needs to be the focus for example. He set an expectation with his $10 bet comment. The worst thing about it is that he should have known better being in charge of marketing. To top it all off, he then goes on to boast about getting hold of a card for himself proverbially sticking the middle finger up at potential AMD customers.

The other big thing that completely blew my mind was not letting AIB's launch their cards at the same time. WTF?!?!?! This was the kicker for me. Which clever marketing idiot at AMD thought "I know what, lets limit the amount of potential day 1 sales by blocking AIB boards being sold adding even more issues to an already limited stock pile" and then which senior exec agreed to it?

AMD, you have a fantastic product, but you just had to "AMD" it. Lessons learnt at all from past events?

The CPU side of AMD has got their S*** together (Granted limited stock again) but they never had someone spout crap setting false expectations.

It's unlikely to calm you down but pretty much all of that last stock was consumed by my system business which is based on a flat percentage over cost. The price was hiked in an attempt to stop online sales and get people looking at the new hardware. Much of our traffic is Google driven and people looking for 2070 Super will land somewhere so we keep the product live for as long as possible. It's a similar thought process to Amazon keeping listings up for popular items for a while after they've ran out.

@ScottiB . I realise this is a long shot...my 6800xt delivery failed. Is there any chance it could be sent to someone on this forum, and hopefully NOT a scalper. I can give you my order details if needed.

This, i was eying up the 3800 card's myself, hard to get them so was happy waiting on the new AMD range, same story, i too have a 2080ti, so got myself a PS5, new card can go on the back burner for many many month's, i don't need one, just fancied one, new tech etc.

Can you message me and explain what's happening? I can't do anything myself but I can definitely relay a message to the CS manager.
