AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

I'm on the lookout for a reference card for watercooling, it's probably under NDA, but I'm hoping there might be some details on the AIB cards and which of those are reference PCBs as well prior to the release next week so I know which ones to chase.

Just for you :D

I'm not really placed to have a discussion about graphics pricing because, unless you have a problem with the pricing of a motherboard or a system, I have no influence, but I would like to clarify a couple of things to prevent any confusion/misunderstanding.

Nobody ever claimed that shipping cost was entirely to blame. I raised it as a factor, mainly to explain why items naturally get a bit cheaper after the demand dies down and slower shipping methods are viable. I see many a comment along the lines of "oh, they'll be cheaper in a few months time" and this was aimed at those mostly. The shipping differences mean that our costs come down too.

Gibbo has been clear about his thought processes over the 6800 pricing in this thread already and the shipping differences will have had some impact on why Gibbo considered the margin on offer, at MSRP, to be unreasonable.

As far as the actual cost difference, again, I can't speak specifically for cards, but the difference between express air and sea container on my motherboard orders reached as much as $45 per board recently vs $2-3 per board via container.

Thanks for your detailed answers, I mistakenly thought you were implying that was the main reason for the price rises which obviously I believed to be not true.

I have seen Gibbo mention the margin on 6800 was just too small and hence why they weare £80 more. I dont agree with that policy but at least its honest.

Its the up to £200 uplifts on 3000 series gfx cards I can't fathom. Nothing adds up to anywhere close to that except perhaps just wanting a bigger margin like the 6800. But he has never come out and claimed that. We have only ever had exchange rate and airfreight shipping. Exchange rate is better than launch so thats out of the window as having any influence and shipping just doesnt add that on.

Ii know you are owned by Caseking DE and I would have at least expected to see parity with them on prices since they will be suffering the same extrar freight costs, however that isnt the case.

SO people quite rightly get frustrated at the prices.

Seems to be a lot of unhappy people here, I managed to get one of the Sapphire 6800s from yesterday, just happened to look at the site around 11:10 and saw availability. Price was a bit high but from what I'd seen on youtube seemed like a decent enough deal for a card for a 1440 high refresh monitor and a bit of VR thrown in. £530 would have been nicer but what with lack of holidays and reduced fuel cost from working at home I thought what the hell, at least I can buy it. Got shipping notification just before going to bed and tracking went live about teatime, so should have something to play with on Tuesday, replacing a GTX 1080 so should be a good boost.

Like @Yibbo I created an account to respond to this. Similar to him my order went through at 10.56. Mine currently also remains at "Order received - not yet shipped". I was happy with paying the price for much the same reasons as you. If your order went through at 11:10am. how did you get it ahead of us? That doesn't make any sense, especially if they are manually processing the orders. Is it to do with the payment methods? I used PayPal. Do they prefer other ways?

I was patient & didn't get on to CS since that's what was asked of us in this thread but that is quite annoying tbh.

Also, a total aside, are protonmails banned from the forum? I tried to make my forum account with the same mail as my OcUK store account & it told me it was banned.

When you have so many people hitting the system at exactly the same time its going to give some inconsistencies.

I am watching the situation but I gotta say, based on the early information from the Red Devil video today and the Reference OC review Igor did, if the driver limit is set to +15% powerlimit for all 6800XT cards even if you modify the bios, you are probably better off with a 6800XT reference for liquid. It's too early to say whats going to happen with that powerlimit but it could be to stop the 6800 getting too close to the 6900 and if its baked into the driver code, who can say how it will be bypassed.

No idea really, although my account has been registered since 2015 even though I'm showing 0 posts. Possibly a forum member vs not, or just luck of the draw? I also paid with Paypal but it was with a funded paypal account, not a card or bank transfer.
My store and forum email are the same so not sure why you couldn't use the same.

Maybe a queue system to prevent over ordering after you click Pay? This would prevent so many issues...

Your right tho, fingers crossed for next week. Again.

Unfortunately it’s a system limitation (based on what Gibbo said about them being the process of overhauling it) i.e. their backend system doesn’t have that ability, but it’s certainly possible as others stores did it.

Since they’re only launching after the rush at 2, which I fully agree with, we should all have a much better experience.

I was also one of the people that ordered a 6800XT and got it cancelled and refunded... I'd love to get into a priority queue for AIB orders but i guess that's an impossibility. Sigh. Back to the F5 brigade i go

The bad news is the 65 we had have all shipped out so unfortunately you must be one of the twenty that oversold.

The good news is another 100 is due early next week so you will get one next week. :)

Thank you for the reply I dont mind waiting but it appears that my order was cancelled this morning with the reason being; "you are not taking pre orders", does this mean I will need to re order when they are in stock? I feel like if more stock was coming in my order shouldn't have been cancelled (it was definitely for the non XT). I'm assuming it's weekend staff confusing the products that are 'pre-order able' but would be good if I could get back in the queue ASAP.

Gibbo said earlier:
"OK guys on the Sapphire 6800 NONE XT we have oversold by 19 units it looks like.

You have two options.
Drop a post in CS forum to change your order to Powercolor version and get it despatched this week as we have 20 in stock.
Or wait until next week when our additional 100pc of Sapphire 6800 NONE XT land and your order will automatically ship out."

They had 65 card 19 oversold but they had 20 powercolor card, you had the chance to change to powercolor, same card just different box.

I had figured luck of the draw was generally being removed with the use of careful manual order rocessing. Seems there's still a bit left. Slight preferences on their end must exist for things such as ease of us & processing refunds but I imagine my paypal card payment isn't much different to yours.

It is odd, but maybe the adminisistrator has a reason for blocking protonmail accunts.

My order remains at the order received not yet shipped status. It would go a long way if those us who are in the oversell from Thursday got some official email communication or something to say that we will get a card in the next shipment. At least then it is actually acknowledged to us & our order.

That's my understanding, that you would need to try again. They don't want the same queue situation as with the Nvidia 30 series. I can very much understand why.
