** AMD BACK IN THE GAME: PRICE DROP EXCLUSIVE TO OcUK!! **

I am convinced! Placed an order for the Nitro Fury.

You will enjoy it. Just if you're interested I've noticed the Nitro has a lot more overclocking headroom than the other non X Fury's. They seem to have no issue reaching 1135-1170mhz and some getting to 1200. Which contrary to what people say is actually quite decent, being anything from an additional 13 to a 20% increase over the reference 1000mhz clock speed.. My TriX starts crapping out at over 1100. I don't know why because they are essentially the same thing.

ps. And you can unlock the disabled shaders on them in most cases. I managed half of them to get 3840 shaders. Only gives another 3% but hey, every bit helps :)

Tri-X uses the stock PCB, Nitro is an entirely custom PCB. Might explain the better OC potential.

That is something I will definitely look into.

Any news on when these will ship?

Was tempted by a couple of furies, but opted to go for an Acer Predator IPS 1440/144hz monitor instead. Should partner my CF 290X nicely.

will these prices stick gibbo? lets hope so as last time you made a post of this nature about the 980tis they were increased after a few weeks.

That depends, if they fly of the shelf and we cannot get more, then we shall simply increase pricing to make stock last longer. Based on volume I have coming and current sales I can't see any real reason why the price will move much from £299

End of the day don't complain when a price goes up because one did not buy it when it was cheaper, when I see something I want I simply buy it. :)

Interested in the date too as I want to order but only if they are instock.

Which card was this in relation too?

Fury have shipped from Hong Kong this Friday and are on the way, should land at OcUK Monday/Tuesday next week, still a few hundred left spare as around 200 sold so far.

The Sapphire Nitro Fury, I did post it in the Deals version of this thread but I think you must have missed it, if you don't mind me asking if I pre order you only take the funds when ready to dispatch right?

Only stupid people do this, I buy what I want now and enjoy it then next year I'll buy something else.

Oooof, people on tight budgets aren't necessarily stupid :p

If only everybody could afford to "buy what they want when they want it".

Money is taken immediately, though this might differ depending on the method of payment used.

ouch you've got a 2011 7970 BEATING a 780 Ti!! and not much behind the 970, I really do hope AMD can pull back with vulkan and DX12 because Nvidia deserves a good low blow after giving us all a low blow with these prices! -_-

NVIDIA won't allow Vulkan to be used in many games. Also 4GB VRAM Fury's = fail in 2016 IMO, too little VRAM.

Now that NVIDIA and AMD's mid-high cards (480, 1060, 1070, 1080) all have at least 6GB VRAM, developers can safely start upping the texture size etc, increasing VRAM usage.

Yet the 970 is still by far the most-owned card out of any higher-end product on either side. I think you're maybe expecting a bit much if you think that developers are going to start cranking things up to make 6GB VRAM a minimum and lose potential sales from cards such as that. There are still many, many more people out there with a 4GB or lower card than those that have a 6GB or more. At worst you might need to turn down the texture setting in a game one notch, and likely notice zero image quality difference as a result. The differences between the highest texture setting in something like Shadow of Mordor and the one below it are utterly imperceptable (indeed they're even hard to spot in zoomed-in still images), yet require a massive leap in VRAM.

There's also the fact that the Furys seem to cope unusually-well in situations where their VRAM should be crippling them. Benchmarks in extremely VRAM-intensive games are available on them right now. Rise of the Tomb Raider uses an obscene amount of VRAM even at 1080p, so much so that the Very High texture setting pops up a warning that you shouldn't enable it on 4GB cards even at 1080p. Yet the Fury X posts both higher average and minimum framerates than the 980 Ti under the new patch, even maxed out at 1440p. So why is that? Why isn't the Fury X being crippled as it should be, especially on the minimums? What effect is HBM having on this whole process? They're not questions I can answer, and with respect I doubt that you or anyone else here can either.

Which option would give the best gaming experience a Fury Nitro with a freesync monitor or a 1070 with a non gsync monitor?

Which option would give the best gaming experience a Fury Nitro with a freesync monitor or a 1070 with a non gsync monitor?

Personally id say with an adaptive sync monitor..

i recently went from a 1080p 60hz 24" screen to a 27" 1440p 144hz Freesync screen on my 290..

I was playing Division a lot it could run maxed on the 290 @ 1080p but in heavy fights occasionally i could get some stutter...

i was hoping the 480 would be a decent upgrade, it wasnt, so the next option was to try out a Freesync screen, i done some checking around and it seems the perf hit going from 1080p to 1440p is about 15-25%, so i figured if im hitting 90fps in Division at 1080hp but limited to 60fps due to being on 60hz, that going to a 1440p 144hz screen would mean i would get around 60+ fps comfortably and be in the Freesync range for smooth gameplay.

I was not wrong at all, i have even tweaked some settings i get on average 85fps now, with it never dipping below 65fps and quite often it will be running over 100fps, however its silky smooth due to the Freesync, i tested out on my old screen by spinning around in a circle (sounds weird i know) in Division and then tried it on the Freesync screen and well its amazing how much smooth it is, there is zero stutter or lag or whatnot.

I would say with a Fury Nitro and a Freesync screen your going to be performing even better than my 290 Tri-X, especially in anything using DX12 or Vulcan etc and especially at 1440p as the Fury memory compression stuff is miles above the 290 i believe.

If you could go to a store and check out a freesync screen i recommend it, or if you know someone with one, even better as you can probably try it out to see how much of a benefit it is.

Id rate it as switching from a HDD to SSD in terms of actual noticable performance, its completely night and day how much better it is.
