AMD Bulldozer Finally!

The 8130P and the other models on the initial list won't launch as far as I'm aware, it's been replaced by the 8150 (see this list), presumably because of the new steppings and various changes to the chips they've made in the past couple of months.

So they have dropped the P branding with the tin etc then? As the P branding was the only one for in that packaging. Dunno why they would drop the 8130p as the number doesnt relate to the clock in anyway. So they could have increased clocks etc, but still no one would have known the difference due to the number not relating to the clock?
Any other source that the 8130P has been dropped as all I've read stem from the above list, which could just be a refresh and all the articles are using that as a source that the 8130P has been dropped without any context to what the list actually is.
Although just noticed the 8120 comes in two different TDP values, is that the one thats meant to be the P version?

Guys can we keep this thread about Bulldozer, its going off topic as always Intel stuff gets put in.

Anandtech did say this about BD,
AMD’s new Bulldozer-based CPUs are just around the corner. AMD has said the release of Zambezi CPUs will happen in Q3, which means any time from now. The latest word on the street suggests October release though.

I hope its not October.

However much I want it, I must wait untill the first real PCI-ex 3 mobo appear.

There is absolutly no point getting a new mobo without pcie3 support when it is literraly about 6 months if not sooner away.

Whether or not its needed is irrelevant. When the first PCIEx3 GPU are on the scene and you want one, tell me your happy with your pciex2 slots then!
I can't see any reason to wait for PCI-E 3.0 unless you:

- Want to use SLI and CrossFire at 16x/16x, and...
- Want to get a mainstream motherboard instead of a "high-end" one with lots of PCI-E lanes (i.e. P67/Z68 instead of X79), and...
- Want to get a new set of PCI-E 3.0 GPUs.

There'll clearly be no benefit in having a single GPU on PCI-E 3.0 over 2.0 because we know that there's only a ~2% performance hit when running the current cards at 8x. Sure, you're more future proof, but I can't see the extra bandwidth being useful for a while yet.

I hope its not October.
If the official word is still Q3 then it can't be October since that's Q4.

THe first pci-e 3 gpu's will be backwards compatible to, likely pci-e 1.1 iirc, you will NOT need a pci-e 3 mobo for the first gpu's that SUPPORT but don't require it. pci-e 3 might make a slim difference in the case of, quadfire, in which case if you can dump £600-1200 on gpu's, honestly, you can buy a new £100 mobo aswell, even then it won't be required AND it will make little to no performance difference even at the very highest end of the scale, it will make NO difference at the low end of the scale.

Anyway, [H] have already announced that the 16th july thing will have 2 Bulldozer systems, both hooked up to 30ft eyefinity displays, running Deus Ex on one and Dirt 3 on the other.

Don't worry there will be Geek Rage(tm) at the end of the day if every detail about the retail Bulldozer CPUs is not released!!

All objectivity will go south and endless Rage Whinging(tm) will start!! :p

They arent releasing the CPU, they are supposedly doing some sort of demo ...

Which will probably just be some Dirt 3 played on a BD cpu.... which tells us nothing.

Oh dear, sounds totally rubbish.

Cant believe so many people have been wetting their pants over this for so long.

I tend to ignore anything until something is actually damn well released.

No point in conjecturing forever and ever.

I don't suppose anyone here lives near and is actually going to the Hard|OCP event?

I know it's a long shot, but meh.
