AMD Bulldozer Finally!

They're -6h there which means it started an hour ago and ends 1am our time.

Not sure if we'll see any information whilst it's ongoing, or if we'll have to wait until tomorrow.

THe first pci-e 3 gpu's will be backwards compatible to, likely pci-e 1.1 iirc, you will NOT need a pci-e 3 mobo for the first gpu's that SUPPORT but don't require it.

I've heard this before... thats why my PCI-e 2.0 card wouldn't work on a PCI-e 1.1 motherboard, ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe. No POST.

It doesn't look like anything meaningful came out of the [H] event. Back into the murky lake of FUD we go, was really hoping for confirmation that it's coming sometime in August to dispel the rumours of an October delay.

PCI-E 1.1 was introduced in 2005 and yet it is still fine around 6 years later. PCI-E 2.0 was introduced in late 2007.

It will be at least 2013 or maybe 2014 until PCI-E 3.0 is going to be a requirement. Most motherboards this year won't support it and probably not all next year either.

theres a thread about the event on Hardocp forum

I'm not impressed -I'm almost at stage of giving up and just building a new Sandybridge setup if I'm honest - as I'm fed up with waiting and don't even have a scoobie how longp otentially I'd need to wait fora Bulldozer- and whether they'll be competitive or not

This event gave us nothing.

Guys speculated it was an early engineering sample. Sounds bad.

But atleast Dirt 3 worked nice and fluently.

Oh well back to my dark chamber. Wake me up when theres something new.

People and their overhyping of stuff, here are a few ickle facts for you.

THe [h] event was never once billed as a Bulldozer launch, AMD would not and have rarely if ever given out real info at a event like that, its a gaming event [H] have done before and will do again, and at this one, they showed a couple real Bulldozer systems working great, thats as far as it was going to go.

Official statements on releases and dates and availability/specs/performance will be from senior AMD people, not a few grunts at a gaming event, anyone who thought otherwise is a bit mental. Same goes for thread title, the 60-90 days wasn't ever 60-90 days to an official launch, it was till it would be seen at a trade show and other people decided to take that as an official launch.

Get over it, gaming event, gaming happened, and then AMD gave them a couple massive eyefinity/bulldozer setups to play on.

No one said the hardOCP event was a lauch.
HOWEVER, the 60-90 days is official launch by AMD as of their words on June 1st.

This thread title was from something completely different.
