I has been said many times by AMD that Bulldozer will not be supported in AM3 sockets.
I remember reading on here though that some am3 may support bulldozer with a bios update? Is this not a possibility?

My facts have been proven wrong? Show me.
Actually, I said "especially in single and dual threaded programs", I did not say "only in single and dual threaded programs". The SB still beats it even when all six cores of the Phenom are being used. It beats it at stock, and it beats it even more when overclocked.
Riiiiiight.
A Thuban made sense before Sandybridge came. Right now?.... it doesn't, unless *maybe* if you're going with a 1055T with a run of the mill Motherboard.
No, that is not a possibility.
so hold on a second there, so why are Cebit did ASROCK basically claim that their 890FX board WILL support Bulldozer, even though its an AM3 board...?
am I missing something here?
Edit: this article claims MSI and ASROCK have AMD 8 series motherboards (AM3) which are Bulldozer ready...? (actually can't post, has competitors in the site!)
Will my mobo support the new Bull chips?
I hope it'll work as I bought this mobo quite recently for a hefty amount. Fingers crossed BIOS update should be able to sort it out!
Well, John has already said numerous times here and elsewhere that it won't be supported.
curious why though? since visible AM3 and AM3+ are identical...
They have different pin arrangements.......
Question is why? I understand the extra pin is for power regulation...
Am I right thinking the AM3 Phenom II/Athlon II has a DDR2 and DDR3 controller onboard, yet BD will have no DDR2 controller? Why such a similar pin layout?
