AMD Bulldozer Finally!

http://vr-zone.com/articles/amd-ships-first-interlagos-cpus-based-on-bulldozer/13503.html

Interlagos is shipping for revenue now, launch is in Q4. We have not made any statements on the client side, do not imply anything from this.

The only thing you should note is that the design is now through silicon validation and in the fab for manufacturing. More to come this evening when I get out of all of my meetings.

Please don't ask me the obvious that you know I cannot answer.

All i care about in getting what i want as cheap as possible.
true

the way i see it is, i've got a amd motherboard already so it's cheaper to just upgrade the cpu. if i go over to intel i'd need to buy a motherboard and cpu which would cost more and i'd may be losing some motherboard features

But you bought that board for BD, so it's a none point, you already had a Gigabye 890FXTA didn't you?

I see it being cheaper as you didn't need to do it all in one go though, it's a gradual upgrade.
Sounds like an Intel chip, you buy it. :D

2500k's my first Intel chip....... So yeah, :p.

And that's AMDs game, gradual upgrade to make it harder to back away because either the CPU or mobo will work with the next offering.

Unfortunately, it's playing against them now in regards to progression.
It seems they're keeping consumers they've already got, as opposed convincing new people to join them :p

Here's one.

If FM2 had just come straight out, instead of AM3+ and Zambezi, do you think we'll have seen FM2 and Komodo out now? Because I do. Though that could be wishful thinking, but in June 1st the guy had a working trinity chip, and that's using piledriver cores.. So that's my justification.

what was that for then, pretty hefty shipping fees!

A 3 screen Monitor stand that i could not get with the extras over here.
There was one place in to UK but that was without the extras but was never in stock & even if it was in stock i needed the extras for it to be compatible with my monitor arrangements.

Would have worked too, if my 790 motherboard really worked with Bulldozer - if only the lies about compatibility weren't lies. Now they have to actually be the best when they launch, cos I'm not known for brand loyalty :P

Its has always been a problem with progression but it does keep people locked in.
If a persons priority is out right performance than it does not matter how AMD make the upgrade options because people will jump no matter what to Intel.

And amd has not had the performance crown for a very long time and FM2 and Komodo will make no difference to those people if its not the performance leader they will still go to Intel even if it was out now.

yes i had a Gigabye 890FXTA but i didn't bought the Asus board just for BD, i had other reasons also, such as i couldn't fit all my cards in , and i wanted the board because it has UEFI which makes it much easyer for me

also Gigabye 890FXTA 2.0 doesn't support BD

It does work because people are buying the AM3+ Even now and that's because it it works with the CPUs they own now & as well with BD, lies or not.

But we don't know if Komodo won't have the performance crown, I'm kinda optimistic about it.

Besides that, trinity. It'd be like a faster Llano.

AMD could remain on the same price, but with much better performance to boot. That's what people want. At the moment, there's quite a gulf in IPC between the two players.

I admit, the new BIOS system is much more favourable to you, and I said the same about AOD along time ago.

But my point was, since you did change board, you could have went Intel, having said that, given how generous AMD were to yourself, I can see why you'd stay AMD regardless, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I mean, I stayed AMD for a long time, I did the Deneb and Thuban overclocking, I was looking forward for BD.. But my optimism was curbed after June's 60-90 days (Which, if you see the conference is official, as it's from the horses mouth)

This does temped me.

I don't like AOD & i like to do everything at BIOS level.
