AMD Bulldozer Finally!

No, September is the ETA for the first refresh. June / July is still launch for first chips.

Also, Sandy E (Q4) isn't really 'competition' as platform cost will be a minimum of 2x the price of the most expensive Zambezi CPU & board. Most configs more like 3-4x.

Ivy Bridge launches in March or April '12.

Why it cant be competitive?Because of price?Well, quality always cost is it?
How do you know what prices will be then? Even today Phenom hardly more cheaper than Sandy. So no way Sandy E will cost 2x or even (which is absolute absurd) 3-4x more expensive than most expensive BullDozeEr,this is absolute BS.
On other note, how it is competitive to put 8core vs 4core? Even that hardly help amd i guess, since amd=quantity vs intel=quality, and Intel still owns amd.

Whats the day count upto? 110 ish? :)

I hope its good after all this time!
I have been putting SB back and back. Tell you one thing,If its rubbish i will never wait for AMD again i will never even look at the products in shops :)

You buy computer stuff in shops? ;) Without AMD we'd be back in the bad old days of $1000 top mainstream CPUs, let alone $40 Athlon IIs which are "good enough" for Joe Soap's Bookfaceing etc

It's frustrating, AMD have reasons not to spill info willy nilly as been explained a good few times - inventory and OEM inventory being one of the main concerns. Relax and play some games, it isn't like it's life or death remember ;)

Not sure if this was posted already, but here's another official statement from AMD that BD is not delayed...

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/display/20110122110646_AMD_Bulldozer_Not_Delayed_Says_Company.html

According to that statement, it's still Q2 (might still be a paper launch though).

I've waited for BD since the first announcements too. Even if it does launch a month later than expected, i'm not worried. Some people here react to the rumours (and they are that) as if their life depends on whether or not they upgrade within a month

Well Sandy E is the replacement for for the current Core i7 Extreme Series which for the majority of us is not really an option.

Sandy E isn't just a replacement for extreme edition only.
It includes two hex-core processors and one quad-core
according to this source.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4291/additional-details-on-sandy-bridgee-processors-x79-and-lga2011

I think this is a more reliable source than any of the rumours
around bulldozer.

What I was talking about is the positioning. Looking at the latest roadmap it seem that the premium area (which the majority of us are interested in) will also feature Sandybridge E processors.

I see they aren't rolling out the highest end Ivy Bridge til next year. Not that I could afford it but I wanted to see the performance figures!

wouldn't mind seeing the prices of the H67 equivalent for AM3+. They need to be £60 or lower to compete or beat intel.

The 3 boards on the competitors site all use PCI-E 2.0 :( Was hoping AMD's new boards would be PCI-E 3.0.

This just gets better and better:)

I wonder though that people with current sandybridge; will they be upgrading again on seeing the perfomance of SB-E and Ivy Bridge (mainstream & high end)?:p

So with the AM3+ mobo pre-orders, does that mean we're expecting to see the 990 chipset out soon?

Tbh i just need the board so i can setup a cheapy PC until BD comes out :(

Yeah but that table puts the 990X above the 2500k and 2600k, which is rather arguable at this point...

I would recommend going Sandy Bridge. I changed 2 months ago from a Phenom 965. Performance is amazing and the price, not that bad.
(AMD fanboys, dont tell me i cant compare the two, i dont care)

But the bigger reason is that a lot of the problems with the new 1155 platform are being ironed out with new bios and the like, so that means more stability and compatibility.

When bulldozer finally does launch, it will most likely (as all new platforms have) have a few problems.

Better go SB
