AMD Bulldozer Finally!

990fx has native SLI support, there's one difference, research others instead of saying crap.

Apparently theres nothing stopping manufacturing partners trying to license native SLI on 8xx chipsets either now (Not that this is likely as they're just gonna become an EOL product).
The post saying they were nigh on exact same hardware wasn't too far off by the sounds of everything atm.

BD is dual channel

The new 990 chipset will run all the current 980 stuff and the sockets fit with out problems

There is very little difference been found, known between the current NB & SB to the new and this is tested with the old AMD stuff.

One mfg has lots of BIOS's already out for the new stuff

I wait for AMD as to anyone else saying whats going down

SLI can already be done via a hack, the bangwagon to make the jump to new kit that runs sli or cf out the box will make headway.

I've just ordered 3 more 6950's to flash to 6970's and preorder a 990 UD7 as i want the qwuad crossfire. Just sucks i have to wait for a bit till full mobo block come out.

Hmmn, if the problem with the curreny B1 stepping is only the lack of overclocking, AMD should still be able to show them of tomorrow.
Heres hoping

Exactly.
It doesn't make sense.
If clock for clock performance is good, they can show it.

Showing it would only do the chip damage. Do AMD really want to release benchmarks that give performance numbers similar to what was available 3-4 years ago?

BD isn't quad channel.

Thuban & Deneb (Phenom II X6 & X4) have an inferior memory controller to Sandy Bridge.

Bulldozer's will presumably be much improved. In fact, the theoretical max bandwidth with 1866 (the platform standard) that AMD quoted some months ago is way more than you'd ever get with Thuban, even with memory well north of 2000.

In other words, the 990FX can't work miracles with the Phenom IIs, hence why memory bandwidth / latency looks bad compared to Sandy Bridge.

I dunno about latency, but Bulldozer apparently drastically increases memory bandwidth by virtue of having a much, much better memory controller.

P.S. Quad Channel is totally unnecessary if the memory is at reasonable clocks, unless you're doing huge calculations / rendering etc. Besides, current CPUs can't really saturate dual channel setups, unless you're talking about many-core Opterons or Xeons, usually in dual-chip or more configs.

Anandtech are reporting that they heard the B1 chips are hitting 3.8ghz (they are awaiting confirmation however)
Makes you wonder why they are waiting for B2 chips

So basically we have three launch dates now:
1.)July
2.)August
3.)September

On top of this some sources are only talking about B0 silicon, others about B0 and B1 silicon and others about B2 silicon.

So this can be one of five things:
1.)Bulldozer is delayed
2.)Bulldozer is not delayed as all the slides regarding the launch dates were fake
3.)AMD is spreading disinformation. You can see this with their graphics cards before launch
4.)Intel is spreading disinformation to deflect attention from its delay of Ivy Bridge
5.)Journalists making up crap to get more hits for their websites

7.) Different versions of chips to be released at different times, much like intel do with Sandy Bridge-E coming later this year?

My main concern at this point is when the boards will hit the market, to be honest. I'm getting a second graphics card delivered in a couple of days but I've been putting of getting a fullsize board since I wanted a 990X/FX-based one. I just hope they arrive soon.

official word is out from AMD at computex, bulldozer will ship Q3... ********! all this wait for nothing, not even a bench... i'm buying sandybridge tomorrow :) well, some parts today...

Ok ;
B0 revision was unstable.
B1 revision works, but doesn't overclock.
B2 will be stable and overclock (AMD have released parts in the past that didn't OC well, I'm hoping that's what they meant by "Won't overclock" and B2 will clock as well as Intel)

But that begs the question, if B1 is "current", why the hell don't they SHOW that? If performance is there, then show it.

Yeah, I've seen the article.
But doesn't make any sense.
AMD have really annoyed me.

indeed... just disappointed more than anything, my first build was AMD (athlon xp), always wanted them to do well! but i normally go with whats best at the time of upgrade, and have not bought an AMD in TIIIIMMMMEEEE.

if its going to be that long of a wait, i think i am going to upgrade to an i5, might give it one more week to see what else gets confirmed though
