AMD confirms Ryzen 7 5800X3D launches this spring, Zen4 Raphael in 2H 2022

people seem a lot more interested in throwing around personal insults on these forums then talking tech. Maybe the guy in the above example went AMD because he does not like Intel for any number of reasons based on past experience, Maybe he wanted a tried and tested platform where he can dive into the second hand market n a few years to upgrade the CPU, maybe he realises PCIE 5 right now has no real benefits to him so does not need that feature set, maybe he realises PCIE 5 cannot be used for NVME on Z690 so no benefit there. There are lots of reasons he may have so just labelling him stupid for his purchase is pathetic, its his choice.

As for teh Apple taking over aptop gaming, i do not agree with that claim myself but they certainly are providing some awesome hardware with the M1 line and only a fool would not think the M1 is a good chip

Lol yes, I am not sure a lot of Individuals need anything more than an i3 given how much time is spent on the forums. All I know is that I leave and breath time with A PC due to it being my Job being a dev and also running a software dev company as a side line. I work with Apple, Linux Windows etc and cant believe how much power we have compared to only 4 years ago. My 3700X blazes through gaming, compilation, multitasking etc etc. I know its not exactly cutting edge but so much more power than the i7 4790K I was using as my daily driver back then. Next purchase will be an M1x mac to replace my 2015 retina.

PMSL, lol you are mis information. How many times per day do you get pulled up on lies…

Call people daft for not buying what want them too, and then kick up a stink like a petulant child…

The thread Joxen is whining about and insulting people from.
https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...-very-old-rig-what-should-i-buy-now.18945517/
I don't think advising someone that a better product is available for the money they are looking to spend in a thread where they are asking for advice is insulting someone.

I would consider what you wrote above far more insulting with the usual name calling tbh.

Come on, surely even you can't think it's sensible paying £320 for a 5600X regardless of his preference but then it don't help when Jigger is feeding him misinformation about SAM being a a large boost when in reality it averages out at 3% and it also being an exclusive feature to ryzen CPUs when that's not true.
But it is that persons personal preference. They may not like Intel for whatever reason and you have no right belittling people based on their purchase decisions. Honestly if i was buying a new system now to last me 2 years i would probably think long and hard about going AM4 now and switching to second Gen AM5. Why simply put AM4 is a mature system, all the benefits of PCIE5 are there now. Secondly getting AM5 on second gen would likely give me an upgrade path for a further 3 years and PCIE 5 would be more mature and useful then. I still have more Intel systems at home then AMD 2 to 1 so i am no fan boy i can just see a much bigger picture then you clearly

I said highend gaming laptops with 150 watt GPUs are obsolete now Apple have a full stack of M1 parts offering more performance at 35 watts. I also pointed that Apple wants to enter the gaming market and has the hardware and resources to do it.

I do think Apple will enter the highend gaming market. It’s essentially a pool of free sales from a market Apple isn’t leveraging.

Of course the usual suspects got emotional and Apple bad!
Apple M1 chips for me are amazing and their line up will only get stronger. I would not be surprised if eventually they got a strong foot hold in the gaming market. They seem to be pushing quite hard in the mobile gaming market and they have so much money they can pretty much do whatever they want

As far as I know they had no preference hense was asking for advice in their initial post.

"So I'm kindly asking if you could point me in the right direction. AMD Ryzen or Intel?"

How am I belittling someone when I chose not to name them or link the post?.

No different to saying people who buy the 2.5k 3090 AIB cards are also daft.

And that would be belittling too. It is their money and their decision. I wouldn't pay it myself but it is completely up to them

I don’t think so, at least it didn’t on the last few RDNA systems I used with Intel chips. People confuse SAM with resizable BAR.
You're getting confused. Resizable Bar was introduced as part of new PCIe specifications. AMD took it, tweaked it and rebranded it on their hardware as Smart Access Memory.
Nvidia followed with their tweaked version but kept the original name so it is essentially the same thing.

Intel 10th gen + MBs have supported the Resizable Bar for a year, subject to a BIOS updates. Also some MBs require specific settings to activate it correctly. It's not always just turn it on. You'd have to check with the specific manufacturers to see if you've missed something.

Yeah, the 14” 10c/24cu chip with 400BG/s memory is sublime. The performance jump Apple have made since dropping Intel is monumental. AMD have their work cut out catching Apple in that power envelope. 3D V-Cache and RDNA2 APU’s should help.

Im not, you’re talking about two different things. I’m not sure how well Intel support resizable BAR. I’m not really that interested in finding out TBH.

Good grief clffy at least read what had been posted before climbing up on your platform.

The guy in question paid £320 for a 5600x what part of this do you not understand to be a complete rip off and a very poor choice? People tried helping him while jigger the resident anything but Intel fanboy thinks its a good choice.

That is easily alderlake or 5800x money. Why would not wanting people to get ripped off be a bad thing?

I didn't call him stupid although not listening to advice doesn't make him clever either.

jigger stated all other gaming laptop manufacturers might as well give up now apple has made a laptop (not focussed on gaming) that is more expensive and doesn't compete against high-end gaming laptops lol

Basically jigger hates intel and his advice and opinions are solely based around this.

OcUK sells the Ryzen 5 5600X for £320 and Ryzen 7 5800X for £400. The Core i5 12600KF is £270 and the Core i5 12600K is £279.The Core i7 12700K is £375.

It makes little or no sense buying a Ryzen 5 5600X at that price IMHO!

Just a FYI 5 secs on google and find said 5600x for 270 also, Just OCUK being OCUK with the AMD chip. No clue while they are currently the dearest in the UK for it.

Not on overclockers where it is £400 lol

I will be careful after the warning from Mr. Vinegar. DDR5 price is a thing, at the moment. And we're all allowed to choose whatever the heck we want to choose.

Its bad enough at £270,especially as the Core i5 12400F is £180,but at £320 LOLWTFBBQ? I have seen the Ryzen 7 5800X drifit close to that price and its actually a bit cheaper per core too!
