AMD confirms Ryzen 7 5800X3D launches this spring, Zen4 Raphael in 2H 2022

I think overcharging for a part because you want it to feel "exclusive" is daft.

Maybe I should have just went straight to that rather than using a past example where "exclusivity" was used to sell CPU's.

I meant you took the 'exclusive' thing a bit far, when I explained why the 2700X 50th Anniversary Edition wasn't really an 'exclusive' as in price, rather just to celebrate something, much like Intel and their 8086K, it was an 8700K made to celebrate something at a higher price.

People are daft though, take the guy in one of the build threads the other day who paid £320 for a 5600X and £225 for an X570 TUF to pair with it when he could have got a 12700k + Z690 for around the same price.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £555.48 (includes shipping: £10.50)

It’s not daft at all though. He gets a 15-20% boost from enabling SAM with his RDNA2 card and has bought a quality motherboard with around a dozen future CPU upgrade options.

Sam averages out around 3% and works with Intel 12 gen CPUs also.

Resizable BAR works, but that isn’t the same as SAM though The gains from an all AMD system can be very large. I’ve seen 15% myself.

The performance will only increase further so it’s not a daft option at all.

So what's the difference then between SAM with an Intel CPU and SAM with an AMD CPU since both work the same way with rebar needing to be enabled.

Specifically designed hardware with a coherent fabric. Basically more performance potential and I’d imagine less work on the software side.

Definitely far from daft.

lol I love jigger always good for a laugh.

The 12700 plus a z690 board wins by a BIG margin.
CPU side the 5600x doesn't get a look in (saying that lol at OCs pricing!)
Also "has bought a quality motherboard with around a dozen future CPU upgrade options" lol what? Any z690 board has more up to date features than a X570 board,

Its not even close. I really do wonder if jigger knows ANYTHING about computers.

It’s not a daft choice.

Emotions are building again I see. It was nice a quiet for a day or so too.

people seem a lot more interested in throwing around personal insults on these forums then talking tech. Maybe the guy in the above example went AMD because he does not like Intel for any number of reasons based on past experience, Maybe he wanted a tried and tested platform where he can dive into the second hand market n a few years to upgrade the CPU, maybe he realises PCIE 5 right now has no real benefits to him so does not need that feature set, maybe he realises PCIE 5 cannot be used for NVME on Z690 so no benefit there. There are lots of reasons he may have so just labelling him stupid for his purchase is pathetic, its his choice.

As for teh Apple taking over aptop gaming, i do not agree with that claim myself but they certainly are providing some awesome hardware with the M1 line and only a fool would not think the M1 is a good chip

I said highend gaming laptops with 150 watt GPUs are obsolete now Apple have a full stack of M1 parts offering more performance at 35 watts. I also pointed that Apple wants to enter the gaming market and has the hardware and resources to do it.

I do think Apple will enter the highend gaming market. It’s essentially a pool of free sales from a market Apple isn’t leveraging.

Of course the usual suspects got emotional and Apple bad!

Come on, surely even you can't think it's sensible paying £320 for a 5600X regardless of his preference but then it don't help when Jigger is feeding him misinformation about SAM being a a large boost when in reality it averages out at 3% and it also being an exclusive feature to ryzen CPUs when that's not true.

PMSL, lol you are mis information. How many times per day do you get pulled up on lies…

Call people daft for not buying what want them too, and then kick up a stink like a petulant child…

The thread Joxen is whining about and insulting people from.
