**AMD Fiji Thread**

This is not common practice, not every retailer does it. It will be very possible to buy at MSRP right at launch.

I suspect you're right, though I reckon that stock is so constrained that you'll have about a 2 minute window to get hold of one, either at msrp or heavily gouged.

Don't forget at OCUK customer is king :p

If the Fury X ends up at £650 because of retailers hiking the price I think I will wait till prices normalize to what they should be. Don't like being milked by Nvidia or retailers.

The problem we have as buyers is that when the UK biggest stockist buys all the stock from AMD for day 1 launch with the promise that it will sell it all at +25% retail price there is no competition. It is, for all intents and purposes, a monopoly or should we use the word cartel ;)

Either way, we as the buyers get screwed.

The moral is if all the muppets stopped buying things on release day at extortionate prices this wouldn't happen. More competition = decreased price for us!

It's still a 100% functioning 144Hz monitor, just no G-Sync.

Yeah but there are two pretty cromulent freesync alternatives for 500 sheets, so I assumed he wasn't determined to diddle himself out of freesync and 100 quid for the privilege of owning a monitor released over a year ago :p

Really? I used to work for dixons and bought loads of stuff on staff discount card and where cheaper straight from distribution and being dixons they were pretty well on top of anything legal like this.

Now i just buy via disti as i dknt work for dixons group.

Yeah even supermarkets give all their staff discounts like coop get 20% off.

HP give massive discounts to their staff.

I would be very surprised if stock becomes available after 2 weeks, with the popularity these will have I fully expect massive price increases due to tiny stock allocation, with week upon week, maybe leading to months before retailers list them as in stock rather than pre-order. Even worse than the 980ti or the TitanX have been.

I predict a huge wait after the initial batch has gone quickly. I'm trying to not get too excited, and even as an impulse buyer I'm frankly contemplating shoving the huge early adopter tax. Especially given it's simply because they can't make enough of these things. If I can't bag two it's not worth looking yet.
