AMD FX-9000 - FX-8770 CPU's.

Except he's based that on nothing but opinion of course.

Because it's not like the Titan/780 situation. It's not actually comparable.

Titan is overpriced yes, but it is the best, the GTX780 isn't as powerful as the Titan.

Also, IT'S NOT A 5GHZ 8 CORE CHIP!

And SR isn't due until 2014, so it won't be 3 months away either.

THE FALLACY!!!!

:p

Of course its based on opinion.

Anand said SR was due later this year when announcing this, they could be wrong but with GF knocking out 28nm AMD CPU's already i'm inclined to believe them.

In my opinion there will be a 5Ghz 8 core SR chip out later this year, possibly around the same time as the Sea Islands GPU.

I also think it will have an IPC boost of 20% and retail for around £350

Calling it a 5GHZ CPU is one thing, but calling it a 5GHZ 8 core is something different entirely, as if you actually run those 8 cores in a situation, it'll never be running them all at 5GHZ.

SR APU's are Kaveri, that's planned this year, but not the AM3+ stuff.

Good Grief..... relax a little with that, your getting so hell bent on this anal 5Ghz nonsense your not even reading what people are saying.

I did not say this Piledriver Chip was 5Ghz, on both occasions I was referring to Steamroller.

I wasn't responding to you with that piece, that's why I quoted your section and responded to you about Kaveri.
I should have quoted Doom, but as far as I was aware at time of writing, his was the last post.

So it'd be you who isn't reading what people are saying.

Again, specsavers, you need.

I've a caffeine addiction, I need something to keep me going. :p
But back on topic, Kaveri = SR, so SR coming out later this year is true (Assuming they actually launch because that'll be two APU launches in 6 months, although Richland really is little more than a refresh), but I'd be surprised to see a 5GHZ APU, we can also be pretty sure they'll be limited at 4 cores, as the "enthusiast" for AMD is AM3+.

LoL, yes l thought my post would stir thing's up price wise, but really it's anybodies guess at the price of the FX9590.

Yes it will cost more and with only so many getting made, as long as the price is not to high l would imagine they will sell. Can't wait to see one reviewed and what cooler
AMD use or supply if any.

The only thing I have managed to find is this. not much use to anyone but there we are....

Some AMD promotion slides including a benchmark on WCCF Tech;
http://wccftech.com/amd-invincible-worlds-5-ghz-clocked-fx-9000-series-piledriver-processors/

Beats a 3960x in Handbrake, apparently

Some AMD-recommended cooling solutions in there too

Right, I can beat them all in Handbrake by using my GPU.

Unless it overclocks to 5.6ghz its a pointless chip, even then its far to expensive.

This is simply an exercise in precursor marketing a coming similar or higher clocked Steamroller chip that will be very expensive for a recent AMD CPU while still competing well with Intel's prices.

This is how AMD are going to re-enter the high end and high end pricing.
