Sure, PS5 has hardware dedicated to unpack that data faster for processing, so in some terms would be faster for a while at least. But until now I haven't seen anything "wow" to actually "prove" that it can only be done on PS5 and is ... well, "wow". Some exclusive title sometimes in the future... sure, why not?
When discussing bandwidth we are not limited to individual/separate components. This is where I see the disconnect. After allowing you sometime to reconsider your position with your addendum/edit it's clear that consoles have a clear bandwidth advantage. Even though it's clear there is more involved then unpacking.

Actual Game Play

This is were I see future games heading. You have to also look out for Cyberpunk 2077, Halo Infinite, the new GTA game, etc.

The nice thing about the console release is it will set the bar and PC developers won't be wanting their new games to look worse than the console games. Obviously this will take a while to work its way through to the consumer. That's the beauty of PC, it isn't fixed hardware and can and does get upgraded.

You're getting a Ryzen 3700X and an RTX 2080 in that box...... for $700 its hard to argue with.
People aren't made of money.

Just because nV charges over a grand for their flagships, doesn't mean that's a sensible, mainstream price.

I have no doubt this will be the most expensive console ever released, but sales will be low at that price.

These things will sell like they are made of solid gold for that money.... in sick numbers... numbers even the Leather Jacket could only dream of.

No chance in hell it will be that price but you do love a wccftech article :p

Sony know there target market and the big bucks are made on software sales. So basically less console sales equal less profit. I would still buy it at that price though as that ssd and how it changes games would be worth it. PC will win the graphics war as usual but the immersion for a while will go to ps5.

I very much disagree.

People who buy £1000 phones are *not* the majority.

People who buy £1000 GPUs are *not* the majority.

People will not buy a £700 console in "sick numbers". It's fantasy land. Especially since MS can undercut them at that price by £200 or so, because they can afford to.

AMD will be taking at least $150 for everyone sold, if not more... $120 was the price AMD charged for every XBox One and PS4 sold. You're right, Sony and MS sell these at cost, they make the money on subscription services and games, the consoles are simply a vehicle for that.

Amazon "leaked" the UK price at 599 then released an apology and said it was a mistake and a mere placeholder so no it won't be 700 USD otherwise that would be almost £800 once you Add VAT and stuff but everyone is assuming that Sony+MS are still wanting to make a loss per console they could have changed their minds and up the price to make a slight profit especially if they are expecting sales to be low due to the current situation everyone is in

I do expect a higher price at maybe $500 but any higher i think Sony or Microsoft might be pushing it. In this climate i think $700 would be suicide. Knowing what is inside the box i would easily be happy paying more but your average console gamer has no clue about hardware so looks at the price tag and decides. Only 2 years ago i paid £1900 for my build and in gaming terms this Ps5 smokes my pc, gonna need a new gpu next year to get back on terms graphics wise but i won't be able to match that ssd.

Doesn't work like that, we add 20% VAT but the exchange rate is a difference of 25 - 30%, $700 would be about £670.
Retailers will round it down to £649.99

I think they are charging as much as they think they can with high volume sales, $700 seems just about right to me. the Original XBox One was £500 in 2017 and they sold in silly numbers...

The original xbox one got curb stomped by the £400 ps4. It was only £500 due to them selling it with kinect 2.0 which they thought was a great selling feature. The more powerful ps4 at a cheaper price took a giant crap on it sales wise.

Then Microsoft have an opportunity ;)

Marketing stunt more like to get people to click "save for later"

They also added a PS5 controller for $79.99 (£66.84) pre-order.

I actually disagree with you there. The amount of people I see from certain areas where I live in Supermarkets with £1000 iPhones who you wonder how they can afford one would very much surprise you. I see more people about with iPhones than any other brand. These are the type of people that shop at Very or Littlewoods where a £700 console is very easily affordable.
