AMD Navi 23 ‘NVIDIA Killer’ GPU Rumored to Support Hardware Ray Tracing, Coming Next Year

^^ If it's true you can see why NVIDIA is planning to push the Titan down a tier.

Those are beastly specs for Navi, the Nvdia RTX3090 specs are 5700 cores, 24gb GDDR6x @ 20Gbps, TDP 350 to 400w, die size between 500m and 600mm.

I'm getting all giddy inside, I want to see these two bohemoths go toe to toe, winner takes all royal rumble!

It's certainly looking like AMD have caught up with Nvidia to a good extent but i am gonna need to see it before i believe it due to the years of torture. It's been no fun over the years with a one sided fight and prices rising rapid because of it. Funny thing is even without the competition AMD were still the better buy with what i was willing to spend.

OK for some giggles, Navi could have a part with more than 80cu's, everybody is just thinking 2x5700xt. I don't think 80cu's is the highest end Navi.

You could well be right as AMD have been on 7nm for a good while so it's not to far fetched. Personally though i think 80 cu's is a safe bet to attack Nvidia on 7nm. Ryzen is bringing in the profits so i would say AMD are in a place to attack but they still don't have the funds compared to NV.

Right, I'm calling this.

AMD will take the performance crown with a 80 CU, 350W 6900XT.
3 weeks later Nvidia take the crown back, but have to wheel out the 3090 moniker.
6-8 weeks after that AMD retake the crown with a liquid-cooled, 96CU 400W 6950XTX
Then Nvidia unleash the Titan.

Well in the realm of farcical ideas how about.

AMD come close to the non titan card but fall just short, mean while shooting themselves in the foot with some launch mess ups or driver fopar.......like they would never do that would they. :D:p:D

But in all seriousness they have to get this launch right.

I don't think they do it just has to be fast. Really fast, its gotta be the 9700pro of today. So yea they really need to nail it. Mind you 30% faster than a 2080ti and it's looking really decent. 40 or 50% faster and it gets massively interesting. You can see the confidence leading into this launch though it's certainly not akin to the vega launch and run up where it was more trying to stem expectations.

I'm finding it hard to believe it would be faster than the 2080ti, in a perfect scenario it kicks its ass and goes toe to toe with nvidias new high end. Can be done but unlikely.

well just using logic - if the top amd card is 80CU then it would need to be seriously inefficient to not beat a 2080ti cause you're basically taking two 5700xts and then yet it's still slower than the 2080ti - seems unlikely

Tl;dr; leaked info stating 80cu, 14GB @ 448 bit for 1008gbps, thinks it could be an internal leak. (edit) but also gave reasons why he thought it was fake, including both companies 'leaking' info to confuse the other.

Average 31.9% over 2080ti and able to use DXR with <10% fps hit. (edit: BF5, Metro, SOTTR, Wolfenstein, COD)

One thing popped in to my head while watching regarding branding;
When AMD launched Ryzen, they poked at Intel with the chipset names (x370 vs z270, x399 vs x299), so they could do the same jab at the RTX brand by going to XTR (to also signify RT capability)

I don't buy the RT with less than 10% performance hit. Suppose it really depends what you baseline it - we've seen with PS5 games the developers are really selective about RT use - like some games just use RT reflection on main character clothes and nothing else in the game - so if that's the game they use for their baseline then ok maybe I can belive less than 10% performance hit but what about Control or Quake 2 path tracing or Mine Craft?

Or "Raytraceon" :o ...depending on how one pronounces Radeon; I'm in the land of "Ray-dee-on" so therefore: "Ray-trace-ee-on" :o or "Raytrace-on".

Same slides was sent to AdoredTV. Jim thinks it is fake.

No offense but i think your TL;DW is missing some key info such as MLID believing that it is fake, and that AMD and Nvidia seem to be engaging in a disinformation campaign to throw each other off what their new cards can do.

I don't know if they have engaged in such practise before but it seems like this is a game of chicken between AMD and Nvidia to see who blinks first. It is going to be very interesting when one side does blink.

They may have to price cards lower than they want due to having not enough or poor information on what the other side is working.

Edit:

MLID, Coreteks, etc = fan fiction

No disagreement there, it's all speculation/rumour milling until we get more official sources.

@Grim5 - have added the RT games to my post

Hadn't seen his vid yet (assuming it was on YT, I'm not on twitter), cheers, will take a look later.
None taken and a fair point that I was leaning a bit more in to his 'internal' comments than balancing with the fake. Haven't slept yet and could have worded it much better, so have had another stab.

Definitely hotting up for an interesting face off and I'm pleasantly surprised that it may actually be able to challenge the top dog from nV, would be fantastic for all of us if they both feel the need for a pre-launch price war :)

Personally I'm probably looking at something <£600 at a push, so hoping 6800(/XT) is within reach and around 2080ti (or a bit more) in rasterisation perf.
