0% more power, 120% higher performance?

rDNA2 target 1.6x per w of rDNA1 (official target 1.5)
rDNA1 params: 225w, 1755 MHz, 40 CU
rDNA2 params: 255w, 2400 MHz, 60 - 65 CU (80 to 90 % scaling)

That makes some sense.. this would be the lowest navi21 sku

Edit: this assumes tgp (nvidia specific term) is tbp (amd specific). Both mean power consumed by the whole graphic card

For me it varies totally by game.

I'm happy enough to play anything over 30 if consistent for something like Final Fantasy 7. 60 + for most action games then higher better for Fps. But im quite happy if it's not jumping about.

Ive always been quite content though. I just find it funny seeing how the narrative shifts when 120fps+ is no longer possible.

Everyone was like omg a ps4 can only do 30fps. Puke puke! Now they have control doing 30fps with rtx on and they are pulling their plonkers.

It's not TBP though so there's a fair bit to add on.

Seems the guy got that data from an AIB, it's tbp .. so have changed my interpretation

How? the 3080 is 350w!!!

3080 320 TDP, NAVI? 255W TGP.

No claims yet on NAVI's TDP, but it should be lower than the 3080 as it's using much slower but also less power hungry GDDR6 vs the 3080's GDDR6X. It will also be intersting to compare power usage on pure raster performance vs RT as the 3080 has dedicated RT hardware vs NAVI's shared design. I wish the 3080 was less power hungry as there is nothing worse than a sweaty gaming experience.

Tgp is the same as tbp and higher than tdp..Unless you are implying something else

Faster to google TDP vs TGP...

TDP is a general term that can mean many things. For chips, it is typically the thermal design point for chip-only thermal requirements. TGP, or Total Graphics Power, is a more specific term for the power that a power supply should provide to the graphics subsystem, an add-in-card in most cases.

Ha, there will always be hypocrites of course.

But VRR is another variable that can make lower refresh more tolerable.
