Great, more limited edition cards (6900xt), just what we need. Chapeau AMD, chapeau  As bad as Nvidia and the non existent founders models.

Who would have thought spending your hard earned could be so hard :p

Initial batch will be AMD reference only on the top tier thats probably due to AIBs still developing their coolers and boards for them.

If the 6800xt is a 72cu card competing with a 3080. How does 8 more CUs get you 3090 performance at 4k?? And how are they able to bump the gpu clock higher with more CUs??

Its called engineering with innovation and design goals.
Seems amd going for beating the 3090 and could even have a watercooled edition this time.
They can simply go higher with clock speed a bit above the efficiency spot.
Like Nvidia had to do with a broken samsung 8nm node that crashed them...when people gamed.

AMD has no competition this time either from intel nor nvidia.
Its game over for them.
Disruptive the market at 4k indeed and all the rest to
Due to all these cards are likely even the 40cu is either faster or match the 3070 and they can add 2 more cards between then in the money slot that counts for the majority of buyers.
Not the few that buys $800-1500 cards.

What? if we assume what they showed off was the 72/4608 card (and it would take a minimum of such spec at ~2GHz to pull off those numbers and I wouldn't put it past needing the 80 CU spec) then the 80 CU card is not a 3090 beater. And you definitely aren't matching the 3070 with a 40 CU part.

Going by shader counts big navi may end up competing with the 3070. Its not known for amd cards to match nvidias shader for shader.
Hopefully and have something that beats the 3080 in everything. That means price wars!!!

How much does nvidia pay you sir?!

Just kidding ;)

How does that work when we have seen AMDs own slides of a Big Navi card trading blows with a 3080???

Love when people say things in absolutes without knowing anything really actually assuming people going to take them seriously in their opinion.

Anyhow as this indicates, AIB can push some numbers....

Because amds slides also showed the 5700xt trade blows with the 2080 but when proper reviews came out with larger variety of games it showed the 5700xt loosing out to a 2070 a lot of times.
Consistent performance is not something amd is known for.... Well consistantly low it comes up to

Am just being realistic - people seem to be taking AMD's 50% perf/watt up lift as a literal +50% performance - it doesn't work like that.
It is an Nvidia Killer man, read the title! :p

We will see what’s what soon. I will not speculate this time as the last two or three times I was wrong and AMD let me down :(

At least I was never Humbug wrong though. He was on another level and took that hype train to places it has never been before, so much so that people still remember it after many years :p

If the 6700XT does have 40 CUs and a game clock of 2300 MHz. That would mean the performance is around the same level and the GPU in the PS5.
If it is just as fast as the PS5, I can't see it being more than £350, without it being a terrible value proposition relative to the consoles.

If it is priced low enough (£200-£300), it would help to bring "4k gaming" to the masses.

The 6800 is probably aimed squarely at the 3070, so around £350-£500. It is highly unlikely to be priced more than the 3070 (£469) though.

That leaves £500-£700 for AMD to slot the 6800XT. They could potentially price it just low enough to tempt any 3070 buyers to jump up a tier, say £550. Or they bump it up right next to the 3080s £649.

Fair enough but those 3 titles, only 1 was known to run well on AMD, the other 2 are known to not run well on AMD hardware.

I know what you are saying but AMD have been very transparent the past couple of events with their CPUs and i feel this is rubbing off with GPU's as well, no point with smoke and mirrors only to get found out. Leave that to Nvidia

Stage is set for them to take share from Nvidia they would be silly to lie about actual performance now

And even if you go conservative with what the actual performance increase would be, a 40 CU card at 225W would edge out a 2080 Ti, and therefore would be right there with the 3070. So yes, it is entirely possible AMD can take on the 3070 with only 40 CUs.

Well that's just completely wrong. Did you just make that up?

AMD's launch slides showed the 5700XT beating the 2070. And it did. But then the Supers came out a week later, so any 2070s you've seen beating the 5700XT would've been the Super, and that card didn't exist when AMD unveiled Navi 10.
