Me too, but imagine if they'd managed to keep warehouses of reference and AIB boards quiet until launch day then boom. 3000 series preorders would disappear overnight.

Ampere seems to be pushed to its limits, what if Nvidia are having to bin them to get them working at the performance levels they need them and just cannot yield enough of them?

That is the case. They also are running into the issue they are not as fast as amd big navis which Jensen knew and priced them low

No. no no no no... if this was the 80 CU big navi that would be great, Time Spy has a heavy Nvidia leaning, Fire Strike AMD, if this was the 80 CU SKU yeah ok maybe, but the 6800XT is 2 SKU's off the top, its a 64 CU bin? 6900XT 72 CU's, 6900XTX 80 CU's?

No, this can't be right. a few Weeks ago Igor was saying the top Navi SKU would only be 15% faster than the 3070.

Edit:Since this is coming from AIBs, 72 CU looks more likely
but then there are some who say that there's no such thing as 72 CU
all leaks are pointing to a good product

(pricing will be the real battle)

Ok if that's the 72 CU bit, maybe, 72 vs 80 is only 11%, if it is true, IF..... Then AMD have won this round outright, AMD will beat the 3090.

Imagine that, some would say AMD have already beaten Intel, others would say "but 10% 1080P gaming" Zen 3 is about to turn that on its head.
What if AMD also beat Nvidia? what if AMD beats them both in one go, can you imagin the kudos AMD would get? And how big would the explotion on the Interwebs be?

I eye products around the $400-550 mark.
atm 3070 for example is 600+euro here.

Given the recent firming up of cu's in the stack based on 'leaks' I'd be surprised if this was the case. By labelling his charts with 6800xt is he not telling us that this is not the top end part? Certainly hope so

Yup i read the article, these numbers are coming from AIBs.. so 72 CU is how i would fit it in the leak bucket

I am really rooting for AMD... I will be getting a ZEN3 upgrade next year and if there cards are indeed faster than Ampere whilst offering a better price I may try Radeon again... last time was 5700XT and wasn't a great experience! I don't want to be messing round with voltage etc etc.. just plug in OC and play

Thats half the fun with AMD cards

5700xt was a bit more gnarly than vega for me but I've got the sucker well tamed now.
