If that was right, we'd basiclaly be looking at AMD increasing 100% over the 5700XT which would be the greatest comback since Rocky 3.... if it's true great but...

Hardly an achievement, TBH.
100% more computing units, 100% or more transistors, vastly improved architecture redesigned from scratch, 50% higher thermal limit, etc.

really? and the fact they've done all that isn't impressive in one generation no? Looks like you can't please some people. Surely if 3000 series offered a 100% improvement we'd all be jumping from the rooftops in joy? no? ok fair enough.

It's normally done in the same generation, though.
RV730, RV740 and RV770 / RV790 being the prime examples.

The 5700XT shouldn't have been left at the top of AMD's stack though

If we're going to consider the performance gain over the 5700XT it's not going to be pretty when that comes with a 50% price increase

???? Nope, we've not seen a 100% improvement of the current gen top tier card, in this case 5700XT to the next gen... I'd love to be proven wrong though, but I can't remember the last time this happened.

We're not on about sku's within a tech generation of a card, we're on about that gen and their top tier card going to the next top tier i.e. 1080 > 2080 > 3080 for nvidia or 490 > 590 > Radeon V7 > 5700XT for AMD. None of these gave 100% improvement. Anyway, you're not impressed, fine with me. I believe you'll be in a minority then of unimpressed people when 6800/6900 cards are released.

RX 5700 XT is a mid range card - strangely left without any higher tier brothers up the products stack.
Radeon VII is the superior card, RX 5700 is not competition.

BUT, it doesn mater what should or shouldnt', it is and that was the best AMD could do just over 1 year ago... and now in 1 year they've managed to possibly double that performance, I must be the only one impressed with this and the possibility of them over taking an arch rival from so far behind it looked like they were gone forever.

However, wish I've not said anything now, as with the forums, we get bogged down in things now... barely anyone can make a normal comment i.e. 100% performance increase over 5700xt being impressive and somehow this is now a conversation where I'm justiofying a bog standard statement. lol

Radeon VII is the best made by AMD until Navi 2X..

Here is a proof for you if you don't believe:

You cant please some. Their agenda is not to be impressed its to make you look stupid or some weird tangent narrative.
100% fella... hence why I'll move onto something else hahaha.. sometimes you just have to sit back, have a brew and let people get on with it lol

I actually think the very interesting thing here is... lets for one minute assume that the 6800Xt is around 3080 or whatever. Now, lets just say the 6900XTX is within sniffing distance or around the same as 3090... does anyone think that AMD would charge £1500 quid for it? I dont' know why, but I can't see this... which then makes you think... one of two things>

  1. AMD release the 6900XT at £1500 to give or take match 3090 and the world continues to complain about prices... it'd be a shame as I don't think I'd even stretch to that tbh...
  2. AMD release the 6900XT at £999 (or significantly under 3090)... which would cause a stir and would this change nVidia price of the 3090? Would nVidia reduce their 3090 by such an amount?
Obviously the above is based on similar 3090 vs 6900XT performance.... who knows... going to be an odd situation possibly if Navi exceeds our expectations and does push 3080/3090's and I mean PUSh or BETTER.

Also, just realised my old card was a 6990 dual card... we've come full circle with the naming,... only just realised lol

There was a lot of political conflict at AMD when Raja was there, The RTG Group was formed to apease Raja who wanted to split Graphics off AMD completely, of course with him at the top of this new independant graphics company, the RTG Group was a compramise.

That didn't calm the politicking. Raja was not 'offisially' sacked, no excutive ever is, i do think he was told to go by Lisa, the moment he was out she moved her own team in and BAM! She doubled his Vega Intergrated Graphics performance while at the same time cutting power in half, just like that....

Intel are now stuck with him, i say that because i don't believe he's much good.
Agreed, that's the way it looks to me at the moment. We'll see whether Xe will be his redemption.

Its' not a mid range card for AMD and that's what I'm saying time and time again... the 5700XT right NOW is the best AMD sell and thus their tiop tier card. I give up.

But that's silly to compare them separately. The 5700XT is midrange card because that's where its performance puts it. Using your logic, both Dacia Dusters and Range Rovers are top tier car, whereas an Evoque and a Sandero are low end cars. It's patently pointless to compare brands in that way.
