wow is the 6800xt gonna be 3080 performance?!!?!?!

I am starting to believe that the rumour that the 6800xt is faster than the 3080 in rasterization but up to 20% slower in RT are true.

a 9984 core 3080ti would take the crown back and beat the 6800xt on both fronts.

Which would then leave the 6900xtx battling it out with the 3090 but again losing out in RT.

In fact a 9984 core 3080ti would probably still beat a 6900xtx in RT but be slightly behind in Raster.

All aboard the hype train

This is why AMD needs to price very competitively.

What's funny is we are all salivating about new GFX cards that can run at 144+ but there doesn't seem to be many decent games on the horizon in the next 6 months to fully utilise them (Cyberbunk being the exception), COVID has no doubt slowed development of new IP's etc and maybe we should all be focussing on the next iteration of cards and not these, after saying all that I'm still diving in though :)

RDNA2 vs Ampere: Ampere will still be it in RT though......
2080ti vs 3070: yeah but the 3070 only beats it in RT........

Yeah it amazes me some people are going to pay £700 for a card which is slower than a 2080ti except for RT and if there wasnt acute 3080 stock shortages, people would have had a pick of 8 3080 cards all £649 and below. Cheapest 3080 MSRP I saw was £587.

Performance is second to price and supply at the moment, I think we know the ball park performance which is enough for the majority of people upgrading from a 10 series or older card.

If you can't get one, or they've priced it above the 3000 series then this launch will just another Ampere launch. Hype, disappointment, and 20,000 people signing up to the forum to moan. :D

lol

Expect there will be plenty of cancelled 3080's if a Ti appears soon.

No so sure. depends on price. If the 3080ti is £999 which means Asus cards are £1200 then thats a big jump up for somebody in the queue for a £700 3080. However I think almost every 3090 preorder would be binned. Save £500 for 5% less perfromance? No brainer.
