The question is what is the power consumption at an average clock speed of 2.3Ghz vs 2.1Ghz?, if one is 250 Watts while the other 290 watts does that make the latter too high?

They're in the middle of testing things from the looks of it, or were at the time of when those were leaked out, testing between 289W TGP and 255W TGP, not really any difference in the final clocks at least in 3DMark11.

Dude. I don't disagree that a pc offers a smoother and higher fidelity experience. My entire point that people seem to overlook is the fact that a pc costs considerably more. People will probably chip in and say but "oh i can get a gtx 1080 for £180 and a ryzen 3600 for bla bla bla bla" to try and imply pc gaming is so cheap and detract from simple fact that a console isnt trying to offer the same experience as £1500 worth of hardware. It isnt.

Does a pc beat a console. Yes

Is the hardware cost significantly different. Yes.

Is a mclaren 570s faster than my ford mondeo. Yes.

Its like I just wanna say "well Derrrrr" every time some twonk tries to tell us how much better a pc runs a game.

When the Series X comes with a 2080 Super and a 16 thread Zen 2 CPU, as well as everything that goes with that to make it a complete package its very hard to make an argument for PC's, how much does a Radeon 6700XT and a Ryzen 3700X cost? is that £500 or more? and then RAM, MB, PSU.......... on top of that?

Agree, then as the games get fully optimised the hardware will come good so for that money your paying its a decent gaming experience.

I agree with you on a hardware point but then you have to factor in extra game costs and even things like PS plus or Xbox Live costs every year. Initial cost is definitely higher on PC but it's easier to save money on software.

Maybe consider how the Console market props up the entire pc market. The reason my pc gaming is cheaper is because I've bought countless cd keys from sites that probably acquire them through nefarious means.

PC Gaming is propped up by consoles. I bet The Witcher only made CD projeckt enough money to do Cyberpunk once it had cashed in on the console market.

People are all raving about how awesome gamepass is on the pc now. That isnt free.

yes and sometimes you have to wait a year or 2 for games to release on pc. And then wait for the extra stuff to get "patched" in. We've seen it all before with DX11,DX12,Ray tracing etc......
Edit: HDR is still a bit of a mess on windows too.

Game Pass now includes EA play too..The world has gone subscription mad.

3 years of ultimate for £90-120 upfront depending on if you use a vpn. That's pretty good value, at least until they remove the £1 upgrade offer.

I defend consoles because they are what keeps the pc market going. Too many people on these forums are deluded and think the pc master race will be delivered AAA titles regardless. They really wont. The high end gaming is a niche market. One that I am part of. But im also capable of reasoned thought.

Fighting a corner and not grasping the fact that pc and console are completely different markets winds me up.

We all like to justify our purchases. Ill sink £700 into a gpu this generation but I certainly wont be bragging that it beats a PS5.

Yeah it's great value. I have it myself. But I was never preaching how cheap pc gaming is.

The advantage of the PC is that it's a plastic tool in that I work on it, game on it, and arse about on the web on one device. Many of my aquaintances have laptops for work/browsing as well as a console.

I do wonder, based on your analogy, what kept the PC market afloat pre consoles? :p

I don't want to get too much into console bashing, because this is not the place for it.
But new consoles are at best, a medium range PC, in a pretty box.
With prices that have been subsidised by the big cooperation's so they could milk you further down the line with game releases, and prices.

If you are happy with that. Go for it.

Pre Atari 2600 days? but seriously back in the day one guy could write a game, or a small team. And medium range PC? What percent of PC gamers have more than a 2080s? I'll bet less than 5%. Even with milking say £20 a game thats a lot of console games before you hit the cost of a PC.

Also pretty box? Come one. I'll raise you PC RGB madness

3070 FE made a splash.

In summary
2080Ti performance at 1440p and 4k with a 5700xt power draw.

AMD are in trouble.
