AMD on the road to recovery.

We'll see.
My bet is Zen 2 to Zen 3 will be more than Zen to Zen+.

So, Bulldozer to Zen 52% IPC
Zen to Zen+ 3% IPC
Zen+ to Zen 2 anywhere from 13% to 29% IPC
Zen 2 to Zen 3 4-5% IPC
Zen 3 to Zen 4...............
Zen 4 to Zen 5...............

Bulldozer to Vishera 0 to 5% IPC
Vishera to Excavator 10% IPC
Excavator to Zen 52% IPC
Zen to Zen+ 3.5% IPC
Zen+ to Zen 2 anywhere from 13% to 29% IPC
Zen 2 to Zen 3 4-5% IPC
Zen 3 to Zen 4...............
Zen 4 to Zen 5...............

Fixed it :)

Another stellar month for AMD at Mindfactory!
ea2qf7t.png
AMD is clearly outselling intel at Mindfactory, having sold more than 16,000 CPU's in November!

Sales of AMD's 2600 has exploded and the 2600x is showing record sales too.
Intel's 9000 series has at least finally decided to show up to the party! :D

Į wonder why they are blowing up the chart sizes as well? Last month it was 71% for AMD yet the bar is higher this month with 69%

They are not blowing up the chart size, look on the left hand side, its a scale of how many CPU's have been sold, last month it was around 13,000, this month its around 17,000, higher number: taller bars.

Aren’t the bar heights based on unit sales and the percentage is proportion of sales for AMD and intel for that month. So intel had a slightly better proportion of sales than the previous month but Amd sold more units than the last month.

Several records was actually broken this November at Mindfactory.
While AMD's 2600 and 2600x are selling at record numbers, it's also the largest volume of processors Mindfactory has ever sold before in a month.

With Christmas coming it's going to be interesting to see if more records will be broken this month :)

Apple, Qualcomm Reduce TSMC 7nm Node Orders
https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/tsmc-7nm-node-underutilized-h12019,news-59564.html

This is actually good news for AMD because this means they are now free to increase the production of Zen 2 chips.
Actually wrong node.
Mobile chips don't use high performance optimized node.
Though TSMC certainly don't want to keep major expensive to built 7nm capacity unused for long.
So if it's technically possible and other mobile chip makers just don't show interest, they might convert some of that capacity for high performance node.
Let's hope such conversion is possible.

Wouldn't be surprise if AMD's and TSMC's agreement even included this kind scenario.
And with financial side now in order AMD shouldn't have problems in stepping in to help TSMC keep production capacity utilized.
Besides certainly sales volumes increasing (especially in server side) Zen2, AMD has also 7nm GPUs planned.

Given AMD have said before they went "all in" on 7nm, I wouldn't be surprised if they worked out some kind of priority agreement with TSMC for their high performance 7nm node. Hell, maybe even exclusivity for a year or so. Everything is using Zen 2 chiplets and Navi dies and we don't even have the PS5 yet, AMD could probably max out the high performance node on their own.

I wonder if Zen 2 mobile parts will use the low power mobile 7nm? 8c/12t 35W part?

It looks increasingly like Xbox is also going down the 7nm chiplet route on their next system as well. I get the feeling they are going to wait until 7nm+ and possibly even Arcturis.

If they have been able to create a low power 7nm Zen 2 part then they are going to be on fire next year.
