AMD did state at some point that the next gen cards would give VR capable performance at sub £300 (or could have been Dollars), so yer, I would like to think that a new node GPU will cope nicely with 1440P @ 60Hz.

Absolutely nothing. Which means release must still be months away, because you can't keep such a tight lid on info if cards have been sent to distributors, etc.
I'm not betting on a June release at this point
According to some sources AMD will release them at E3 as last year.
Yes Greg that's what I'm hoping. The annoying thing is the 7970's core very well with the demands my use puts on them. However they can be loudish and the room temp can get up to 30°C!
I'm really looking forward to see what the Nvidia and AMD cards will do on this smaller process. Along with feeling fairly happy my CPU isn't really holding me back. I'd love to drop £500 on the next best full fat card but this isn't my only hobby and tbh I'm not a hardcore gamer. I am a bit envious though when I see some of the fantastic setups the real enthusiasts on here have

Nvidia are probably going to have the higher performing cards but AMD is apparently targetting performance/watt and better value.
Although,it does kind of look like Nvidia is probably going to be out the gate first.

I really don't care about £500+ cards anyway, as always £300'ish is where i'm looking.

AMD better get these out then!! I really hope the AMD middle of the year date is not one for laptops and prebuilt desktops.

As they are only going to be around the 390s performance from what is being said, so no point going to one if you already have a 970/980, 2/390, as won't be much of an upgrade.

Be that as it may it wants to be sub £200.
We have a real problem if neither AMD nor Nvidia are delivering £300 980TI's with this first round of cards.

It is more likely,the GTX1070 will be £300 to £400 and the GTX1080 will be £400 to £500. So the GTX1070 might be GTX980TI level performance but at the price tier above.
I suspect Nvidia will be selling a GTX1060/GTX1060TI at £200 to £300 with a lovely 192 bit memory controller,and we saw how that worked out with the GTX660TI longterm.
It wouldn't surprise me if it hits GTX980 level performance which is not far off a R9 390X anyway.
If Nvidia are also not supporting VESA Adaptive Sync i may have to wait longer anyway, i can get a 4K Free-Sync screen for the price of a 1440P G-Sync screen and my money is smart.

Luckily,I am not in a rush,so I am quite happy to wait until November to January to see what £150 to £250 can get me performance wise,even though I only have a GTX960 currently.

Nvidias going to clean up if they price right, as wasn't the 970 a stonking seller, if so, then thats a massive market whos only option is going to be a Pascal card for an upgrade, must be quite a lot still on 980s, 2/390s too.

I doubt it. The reason why the GTX970 did well(followed by the GTX960 and GTX750TI) is since it was priced well under £300. If you look at Steam,etc,the GTX970,GTX960 and GTX750TI massively out-number the GTX980 and GTX980TI.
So,that means the GTX1070 or GTX1060TI either has to be under £300,and be a big improvement over the GTX970 or R9 390.
Looking at how small the GP104 is,even though I can see it beating a GTX980TI,I am not certain how well the GTX1070 and GTX1060/GTX1060TI will pan out.

The R9 390 is £200?? The cheapest I can see is £240 after checking a few retailers quickly. If AMD can get R9 390X level performance that is great since it will be 50% faster than a £175 to £200 R9 380X and nearly 70% faster than the GTX960 which is £150 to £200. That is at 1080p.
Should be a great upgrade for my mate who bought an HD7870XT,three years ago and that was nearly £200. That should be nearly a doubling in performance with less power draw too.
