AMD Polaris architecture – GCN 4.0

Maybe stick our very own AMDMatt in a Leather Jacket and shuffle him on stage. :D

He's Charismatic, he understands the product and is genuinely passionate about it.

Right.

koduri is not a salesman.
I understand AMD desire to explain the product and they may want to use their top engineer to do that, but actually there wrong.

What they need is a charismatic indervidual who can explain what it does but above all sell it.

yes but the problem with AMD is that they put lisa and koduri as Hosts, and they are not a good fit for it, they can bring someone to host then bring lisa and koduri for interview if they have technical stuff to go through, that would be a lot better.

Yup...

Literally a handful of enthusiasts want to be 'wowed' in some launch show, the majority of all graphics card buyers will never watch a launch event or understand a single fact about the architecture. PR people in general suck and I can't stand them. I'd prefer to have an engineer telling me real information awkwardly than a single smooth as **** PR person talking utter crap, not knowing what they are talking about and just trying to sound cool.

Jensen is potentially the exception to this, he's more engaged in the engineering side but I can't stand listening to him, 70% of every sentence gets repeated. Jobs was a marketing guy, all hype, all buzz words, little real information, Jensen wants to be Jobs so badly, I want anything but that kind of presentation.

I think a few people would never recover if he walked out on stage and started his salesman pitch with an AMD GPU hah.

Oh that Jen. I thought they were referring to:

I'm sure Matt originally came from bristol, he could walk on stage and say hello my lovelies kop a load of this new graphics card, it's gert lush

As I've mentioned in other threads I'm not in a hurry as my card is handling everything fine but when I go 3440x1440 I will need something with more than 4 gb's of memory and I'll need more grunt as well.

I'm not considering Polaris but if it's fastest chip is as far behind GP104 as it seems what does that mean for Vega? I'm looking forward to Vega and hoping that can manage better than 1080 levels of performance without a stupid price tag. But if not I'll end up tied to Nvidia for some time as I'll end up with a G-sync panel.

I see. Well if it's 4k your after yeah 4gb is not going to be enough. I'd put money on Vega being a lot faster than the 1080 but It probably still wont cruise through 4k. The 1080ti might come close but I'm thinking probably one more generation to go before we see proper 4k cards.

Jobs proved you can sell a technology those who have no interest in technology simply by presenting himself as friend giving advice.

The truth is most of the human race are either incapable or don't like to think for themselves through fear of not getting it right.

You can see that with the EU referendum, people have all the information they need to make an informed decision and yet those same people keep saying "we don't have enough info" what they want is for someone who they see as an authority on the subject to tell them what to do.

This is why 'just like elections' its all about the personalities of public individual's.

Steve Jobs understood this, he is a personality telling his flock to buy his products, and so they do.

Its the same reason completely irrational things like religion are able to exits and thrive.

And then they can blame that person if they get it wrong :S

my guess was saturday night live

Seriously? It's from a British comedy series called The IT Crowd.

That's from an episode where the two techies attempt to get revenge on their manager just before her big presentation by convincing her that's the Internet. One of the best episodes. Worth a watch.

Anyway... back to Polaris. I believe we were attempting to fill the void of news with ceaseless argument.
