AMD Polaris architecture – GCN 4.0

I hope that isn't true, otherwise it is a bit tame. The 1080 only has a 180w tdp and is nearly twice the performance of the 390/390x.

I wouldn't believe anything TPU are saying at the moment. much like wccf.

The only thing we know is the mobile Polaris has been spotted, everyone knows its a laptop GPU, its obvious and thats the GPU that looks like 390X perf.

TPU are not stupid, just as they are not stupid enough to cite 13% performance increase from an 11% overclock on the 1080, yet thats exactly what they did, i would have to be paid a lot to look such a bigger fool.

232mm x2 14nm = 460mm in old 28nm node.
390x = 438mm 28nm
die space and number of transistors is unknown with Polaris but based solely on die/transistors, its better than 390x there without to much speculation.

So given current speculation will AMD have anything to combat the 1080, this year?

Vega was rumoured to be out sooner than later, But that is a higher end part than the 1080, so it depends on how well P10 performs in IPC and how well it clocks.

Depending on how things go, AMD might end up with a large performance gap between P10 and Vega.

There may be a cut down vega who knows.

There will almost certainly be a cut down Vega, otherwise what would they do with the mildly defective cards? Bin them?

There only won't be one if they use the cut down ones solely for the FirePro market, or solely for Apple, or something like that.

Crazy if you think you can't go Nvidia because of FreeSync, i love this screen, i can happily game on 144Hz without FreeSync, like i did before, like i said above, and i need to upgrade, as im only on a 4GB Fury, so Nvidias my only option, the 1080 smacks the Furys silly, its not even funny, and has more than 4GB vram, which just isn't enough, AMD is not an option for me, as they don't have an upgrade path.

Tbh Loads I'd sell one of the Fury's and wait for Vega, not like it's doing crap for you atm....
