Half and half I recon. If I was AMD and Polaris was smashing it I want it in the hands of everyone personally. ie invite everyone to the party :)

Well after writing that article [H] better hope it's true or they will have totally vindicated AMDs decision to exclude them. Because if it is even half sour grapes it will be a stick used to prove HardOCP are biased.

Time will tell to be honest. IMHO I am happy to wait for trully higher end Vega and Pascal anyway, so the fact I am not that impressed by 1080 and the fact I am locked into Freesync leaves me with only AMD as viable upgrade path.

If all else fails and Polaris ends up a black hole rather than a bright star I will sell my Freesync monitor and go Nvidia + Gsync.

Sour grapes or honest reporting?

To be honest it would not surprise me in the least if AMD/RTG have totally screwed up with Polaris. It's essentialy what they do lol :D

Reads a bit like sour grapes from H but on the other hand if there is any truth to it, it is a lose, lose situation - if Polaris comes up significantly short then AMD leadership needs to utilise that to take disciplinary action and that would likely gut the GPU division and leave any grab for it in the dust along with AMD's GPU division (unless they get right into the saddle and pro-actively rebuild it) or watch it slowly force taken over :S

It does definately read along the lines of "I didn't want to go anywy because AMD and Polaris sucks". Though AMDs track record makes it all seem so plausible.

Probable but it would be almost akin to tech site suicide. No PC tech fan would take them seriously if it ends up as sour grapes.
Plenty of sites put out sensationalist stuff that never turns out true and then continue on fine.

Seems to be almost a normality, sadly.

That said, there might be something to it, I dont know. I just take them with a pinch of salt til we actually know more.

Wasn't there talk about chips in January being unable to hit proper clock speeds or something of that nature?

No, that was some guy posting rumours on a forum about Polaris not validating past 850MHz and that they were delayed until Oct.

Sort of plays into this quote then (at least part of it):

What HardOCP knows from sources inside and outside the company, AMD has a problem on its hands, as both these products have come up significantly short of where these were supposed to land. But that is OK for AMD, it will simply send Chris Hook out to fall on the sword and tell a story of that was the plan all along....to produce brand new parts much slower than its last high end GPUs. In the simplest terms AMD has created a product that runs hotter and slower than its competition's new architecture by a potentially significant margin

Possible i suppose, just have to see how things pan out.

I stopped visiting HardOCP after their original hissy fit about ****ging AMD off and then expecting to be besties afterwards. The staff seem to have a combined mental age of somewhere in the teens.

Well predictably this was their response to my post.

says it all.

IMO These people are megalomaniacs. It seems to me Kyle has a screw lose.
