Meh I've not go the cash to water cool the system right now. I might just sell the other card and just run on one 290 untill the new cards come out. Seems like the easier option. Most of what I'm playing is running fine on 1 290 at the minute anyway and I've got plenty of less gpu demanding titles to work through between now and the end of the year with Dragon Age being the only new title I'll be getting and it's going to be mantle anyway is it not?

Seems overclockers don't sell the reference cards anymore, im half expecting to get a credit note to use from my 7990 rma at some point, would prefer 2 matching cards =/

I've got a 540 too and I plan to watercool (got all the parts, just have to get up the motivation/stone to do it). It won't look that good though!

Any chance of a peak at the other side? Interested in your pump mounting and tubing routing.

Not very good at paint :D
But you get the jist.

If you can't.
Pump/res, top outlet to 240 back inlet, 240 outlet into left 290 inlet/parallel back to the right outlet, normal inlet/outlet on the CPU block, into a water temp sensor down to the 360 front inlet, back outlet into the side res/pump inlet.

Looking at the pictures, more fluid is needed for the pump will do that tomorrow.

Received my r290 from thefogo today, had a quick blast in Crysis 3 and it churns along pretty well, just waiting on my dp to dvi adapter coming to be able to put my eyefinity setup back in action to see how it fares in bf4 :)

As I said on the last page I really do question the intakes on the card, its literally 3 small vents to pull in air, surely an open ended design would have pulled more air over the fan and heatsink faster and assisted with temps? Its like they went for aesthetics over airflow in this case, just seems like a huge air bottleneck to me.

It pulls air in through the big hole above the fan... :) It would blow out those vents but I think they are just aesthetic.

Pretty sure these designs pull in air from the front and vent it out the back, it was like the 5 series had air vents on the front that looked like snouts almost.

Gerard they end up acting as three little exhaust areas for the vrms. Feel it under load, warm air will be being pushed out from these areas. Most of the heat goes out the rear though.

If this is the case it would blow out the front and the rear. How would you determine which would be an intake and exhaust.

The big hole above the fan is the air intake. Using centrifugal force then blows the air out of the vents. Most is ducted across the heat sink and out the back of the case.

Whats the direction of the fan? you can work it out be looking at the alignment of the blades. In this case if its clockwise its pushing ait out the back and out of those 3 vents your talking about :)

Fan direction makes no difference what's important is the opening above the fan. As air is drawn in across the whole fan and then pushed out in all directions at equal pressure. Any outlets connected to the fan will be exhausts the more you have the lower the pressure at each.

Suppose it depends where you consider the front of the card to be :p. A lot of reviewers call the input port area the front of the card, and some others consider the fan to be the front of the card. Never really considered the input area to be the front myself :)

The only air input is through the big round hole where the fan is with the MSI logo. The holes at the front and rear will be exhausts.

Glad to see royal mail delivered it in one piece.
It overclocks to 1050mhz on the core with stock volts, if you want to oc it.
