**AMD Radeon 390X Graphics Card WCE**

AMD need to shift all the old stock first and announcing what they have coming will just make people wait.

The old stock isn't selling so it is a bad move, especially if the rumours that all the 3XX cards up to 380 are just re-brands then they should forget the re-branding, launch th3 390 and simply lower the prices of the current 2xx cards. Once the 2xx cards are out of the channels then they can think about the 3xx replacements.

Since this hasn't happened and there are relatively few leaks online my expectation is there has been technical difficulties with the 390 design. Hotter or more power hungry than expected, HBM integration causing issues, performance not as expected, not competitive with Titan X. Something like that, something require new re-spins or tweaks.

Could also be driver related, HBM will require a different memory controller and given AMD's recent driver hilarity the delay could be entirely software related.

AMD are hemorrhaging market share so fast there is no way on god's earth their management will be purposely delaying the launch of key next gen parts just to clear channels. Old stock can be sold at discount and written off. Gaining market share is extremely difficult, AMD risk going under 20% at this rate.

That sort of makes sense doesn't it?

Titan X at stock is 30-35% faster than a 980 GTX, the 390x is rumored to be within 10-15% of a Titan X then that's bang on.

Yeah, I think it is about right. Titan X was bang on 38% faster at high load than 980 which makes sense given 50%more cores and 12% less clock.

20% faster than a 980 is about what I would expect, slightly on the low end but not unexpectedly. The 980Ti can then fit in just about the 390X.

Until we actually know what its specs are and see some benchmarks against a TX, theres no real point in the hyperbole.

I just hope its a very fast card with good acoustics, thermals and also at a price cheaper than nvidia, as it'll force nvidia to rethink their pricing strategy.

If AMD sell the 390X at it's likely RRP then there is no need to discount old stock. With the 390X going on sale at £500 plus there is still plenty of space to continue selling 290Xs at their current price.

Which makes it even more likely there is a technical reason why the 390x is not ready for launch.

If the 390X was a Titan-X smasher then I'd expect AMD to be making noises right about now (to stem the tide somewhat). The fact that they aren't leads me to believe the 20-25% figure over a 980 is fairly accurate and about what I'd expect :)

The only difference in the articles is that it has a different date, but the info is old and probably off like usual. 20% is a guestimate like all guestimates the last 6 months.
