AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

As some of these 2xx series cards are just going to be re-bagged 79xx card. Does that mean that not all of them will come with Mantle? Or is Mantle going to be in a driver update for 79xx cards and above?

With consoles going 8 core and AMD GPU's, this might make me jump ship from Nvidia.

I own my own little pc shop in SA, I have a good client base, nothing like the big companies but since the mantle news dropped I've gotten 30 back orders for R9 290X BF4 editions.
To put that into perspective, when the Titan launched I had 6 back orders. That's a big difference.

A close friend of mine owns the largest online shop in SA and he has confirmed the exact same thing, huge amount of back orders, more than we've ever seen with anything from AMD.

Nice, this is what AMD needs.

lol, the fact they've made gtx780 look like a sweet deal compared to Titan backfired on nVIDIA. :D
"What comes around goes around".

Yup, releasing a halo card back in February, 8 months before any competition, for a ludicrous £850 and have them sell well and not be able to keep up with demand has really backfired.

Of course it sold "well", limited numbers, but there are still enough enthusiasts out there to make it look good. If they had the card in large numbers, it wouldn't have been such a nice picture.

But now, the competition can come and say "look, I'll sell you a card more cheaper and at least as fast as the 1k bucks Titan". Nice publicity. :)

LOL

Nvidia fooled Loads of people by releasing the Titan at crazy high price a (£850) so when they released the GTX 780 for £550 people thought it was cheap..;)

Who was fooled exactly? Nvidia released a silly priced card but it was aimed at people who didnt care about the price and ,as such, sold well. Cards were plainly on the table and if you think it was too much money (as did I) then it clearly wasnt aimed at you or me.

If I had my choice again I would still go for the Titans as they do what I need, the GTX 780 on the other hand is one of the best graphics cards I have seen but does not do what I need. Horses for courses.....

AMD IMO should not be releasing a GPU at £500, they should have learnt from the 7990 that they do not have the brand power of nvidia to shift overly expensive GPU's, one week the 7990 is £800 and the next under £500 lol.

i think they are relying on hype/fear of the api talk to sell them :)
they need to be clearly infront on performance of 780, and overclock good too, the 780's overclock nice, and the 780 looks like an expensive video card, the ati ref does not

but then some people will buy new gfx cards no matter what so :p
