AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Those temps on the R9 290X are definitely Titan beating and I also don't think the 290X is going to scare the GTX 780 in the overclocking stakes either.

The other thing to remember for benching a single card is the 4770k will give a nice efficiency bonus over a 3930k.

Spot on Kaap. Card for card and clock for clock, the X79 boards are poor compared to their Z brothers.

I remember someone else did that when they were accused constantly of being a fanboy :D

Me! :D

Mine got removed though as it was intentionally causing trouble apparently

I just want a card that plays the most demanding games at 1440p >60fps. The GTX 780 nearly managed this but drops on a few games. I do not know if SLI is efficient for a single monitor.

No single card is going to do this.

Its not running at 93c, GPU-Z is confused, Good Grief...:p

Those 1300Mhz 780's are not the norm, there is some BIOS modifications going on with them and some pretty elaborate top end cooling.

There is no reason why Hawaii shouldn't clock the same, thats not to say it will. let it speak for its self before before putting down premature facts.

After playing Crysis 3 at 5760x1080 and seeing over 4.6GB of VRAM used, this doesn't strike me as the card to get for 4K. It is fairly mute though because 4K isn't a viable option for the 99% of gamers but when the prices come down to an acceptable level, then we will be seeing GPU's that not only require 3 times as much grunt as the current cards but 3 times the VRAM.

Doesn't necessarily mean a 4GB card would have suffered any drop in frame rate though, vram will be full of plenty of stuff that could be garbage collected I'm sure if needed

Bah, well if it's dual solution I'm still being scare mongered into NVIDIA. Trying to find the fastest out hte box one that doesn't take up 3 slots like the lightning.

Loads = 2?

Those came straight to my head, others have done it here as well but don't know their names off the top of my head, seen plenty on other forums as well.

Considering most of them boost to 1100 on their own anyway it isn't a big surprise to see people getting another 200mhz out of them.

just purchased a 780gtx classified :P

Loads of them hit 1300, mine does, boomsticks does, mine even does it on air if I have the fan at 100%, no elaborate cooling or BIOS modification.

If you look around Humbug, you will clearly see that those 1300Mhz are the norm and any that don't reach that are poor. The Classifieds are hitting speeds I can't (as yet :D) and are blowing away Titans with ease. You only need to look in the bench threads and see what is what and they don't need any elaborate mods or bios's to do this.

The Titan is the one that needs Water Cooling and a modded BIOS to run super fast and the reason for that is because of heat issues. The 290X will be displaying the same scenarios and will require Water as a minimum to go big.

What is so special about the classifieds? Are they the best air clocker or something, I don't get why someone would pay extra for one otherwise over say the Zotac amped which is cheaper and faster out the box.

On this forum and others few of them are running higher than 1200Mhz, 4 out of 18 in the Valley thread, most of them are at 1Ghz to 1150. those are the normal clocks for them.

There will be a few exceptions with all GPU's and a few willing to run them to the point where they artefact like mad just to post a very high score.
There is nothing normal every day use about that.

EVGA's superb warranty and I think their classifieds are binned to guarantee decent clocks. Their coolers whilst looking pretty normal are also very very good.

Someone got a great deal the other day in the MM, a 780 lightning for £420 quid

See, Lightning is another card I don't understand the price premium on especially as it also takes up 3 slots! I'm seriously confused on what to do GPU wise, I regret buying my MSI 780, should have gone for the best at the time which I guess was the classified. Tempted to just chuck my money at 2x classifieds.
