I don't blame AMD for doing it as they are in the business of selling cards but it seems to me everything is loaded in the R9 290Xs favour on a setup that produces results that are totally useless to everyone.
Good find. I can understand Nvidia users trying to write the results off as false. Let hope they're true. I reckon they will be.

It's just not fair to directly compare your competitors cards on your own terms. Who even knows what drivers the 780 machine was running. It's all getting a bit unwieldy lol

Come on mate, there's no need to classify people as "Nvidia users" just because they are casting doubt on the results. That kind of putting people into groups just causes AMD vs nVidia wars

Was hoping for a Titan beater at a reasonable price so I could flog my Titan before the NDA gets lifted.

once the cards are out OC properly we find out what they can do.
Price will be a good thing if they set the 290x vs the 780 and the 290 in between the 280x and 290x, then a 290 pro is my card hands down.

Haha what else would i call people with a Nvidia card? Not saying they are the only people with doubts though. But i can understand them trying to write it off, id probably do the same if the gpu was on the other pci-e slot, so to speak.

AMD is having a field day. Laughing their behinds off at all this chaos and uncertainty. They are getting what they want.. Press coverage. It is the oldest trick in the book and no one thought AMD would use such tactics as we are use to them just bending over and asking for permission to spread their buttcheeks.
Agreed and if I was working for AMD, I wouldn't mind having a fiddle prior to letting people in to see what can be done and refusing to allow then to see what is what.

It's too close to call but smaller die at those temperatures are even more likely to suffer failure. There is no doubt that the card will remain to function at 95C but the principle of target temperatures is a fairly loose one. In Crossfire configuration, you will definitely be seeing during the warmer months these cards hitting the 100C barrier I'd imagine.
All will become apparent once there are some proper tests run.
