AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

That gsync video is bad :( I could see stuttering on both monitors due to the poor camera.

But, essentially gsync is the same as http://www.radeonpro.info/features/dynamic-vsync-control/ ? Just going about it a different way?

edit: also, the xfire scaling is awesome :)

No, vSync or RP's DVC sync the game to the monitors refresh rate, or tries to.

G-Sync sync's your monitors refresh rate to the games FPS, its defiantly better and a good idea.

That 4k xfire table just shows what i have been saying about 4k. You need at least 2 290x's to get stable good framerates at 4k in CURRENT generation games.

If i was seriously interested in 4k i would wait until we have more powerful GPU's and not waste potentially £1000's on kit that will only be struggling to get 30fps on next years games.

But it still good to see how current cards manage at 4K.

If anything, it shows that how bad a time it is to adapt 4K right now. Wait for another year or so, not only the 4K monitors prices should drop a bit, but also the 20nm cards of next gen should be out by then as well.

Yep thats it, I just don't understand it. Maybe I'm tired, maybe I'm just slow to grasp things. That's the reason for asking questions though, not to point and laugh. Really some people are just like kids.

edit: I understand that it matches refresh rate to fps, I'm just trying to connect it to input lag as that is part of the reason people go for high refresh rate monitors.

I guess, but it is just annoying to see AMD trumping up the 4k capability so much rather than giving us actual useful and relevant benchmarks.

I mean it is quite obvious it is because the real advantage the 290x has over it's nvidia counterparts is memory bandwith but that is great, we get that.....just give us some proper benchmarks.

Agreed, it is now time for the proper benchmarks.

4K is all well and good if you have a spare £1,500 for a screen.

this 4k thing is just hype, the Next best thing since HDTV, but in reality it's a year too early..........i dont know about you lot, but i'd much rather see some ``Hype`` about Doom 4 or Dishonored 2 instead ;)

it's like Bluray, HDTV etc, always a year too early

4K won't be a viable option even when we are on 20nm, it will only become viable when we are on the next shrink after 20nm.

Really?

Most of the games on 290X CF are getting 60 FPS + avr, this for probably about what would be £100 more than what a single Titan costs.

I think AMD should rename the R9 290X "The Nero" as while AMD fiddled, NVidia burned them with the GTX 780ti.

If AMD have any sense they will get this card launched, proper benchmarks and all to minimise the damage being done to them.

Max the settings and they will get very little. The same applies to a pair of Titans, who wants to play Crysis 3 at 22fps.:D

I have to say all this talk of 4K seems to be causing the two companies to redouble their efforts, I wonder what crazy specs the 20nm parts will be bumped up to as a result of this war.

If you think 20nm will produce a GPU more than twice, 3, 4 times as fast as an R9 290X then I think your crazy :p

Crysis 3 is 62 FPS.

It is viable now, a 20nm R9 390X or GTX Titan 2 will just be more viable.
