AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

just wondering if there would be any point pairing one of these with an overclocked 8320? have the upgrade itch but have the feeling even at high res the cpu would be the bottleneck. probably better to get a new mobo/cpu and see what the new amd cards will offer right?

I didn't get the best performance out of my 295X2 when running with my old FX 8350, much better when I upgraded to an i7 4790k.

Here are by before and after 3D mark results, only thing switched were motherboard and processor.

With the new cards around the corner I would wait if I were you.

thanks for the benchmarks
certainly looking like i'm waiting after seeing those benchmarks. im not looking to go full 4k yet anyway but with the prices being so low I thought I'd consider it. seen some used 295x2 going for as little as £350

As long as you're at 1440p or above then you'll be fine.

I've just upgraded to a 4790k from an [email protected] and for most games there's little difference at 1440p. The one game where there certainly is a noticeable difference is GTAV.

Been testing my cooling system on my R9295x2.

He he, with those temps at those clocks I don't think you need to worry about any more rads :) One day I'll do a full custom loop, I can only dream of temps like that.

4 x AMD 295x2 and X99 platform can run 100% load easy easy on 2000w 8Pack Superflower PSU.

8 GPUs working together? I thought maximum GPU count drivers could handle was 4 (2x R9 295X2 for example). Would like to see some benchmarks for that set-up.

Yeah if you're going tri-fire then a quality (eg Superflower) 1kw PSU will be needed.

Yeah I was thinking something like one of the 1.3Kw Superflower units, sadly you can't get the one I was looking at in white :(

Somehow I think that is extreme overkill for my needs!! :p

(that psu alone costs more than any single component in my pc just now!)

I was running GPU PI a benchmark new on HWbot that can run 100% on upto 8 GPU cores. I clocked the cards to almost 1200/1500 on each core and run run run!!!
